how much are you spending on your wedding ring?

so i have fallen in love with a ring, and i wanted your opinions. FH expected to pay thousands of dollars, so he thought that this (at 1600) was great.... until we went looking and found a similar (but not nearly as nice) was $300 so now that $1600 is looking expensive

(lol if you can read between the lines, i was looking for you to tell me that $1600 isn't too much to spend)

what are ya'll spending??

Go for it!! It's beauitful. Think of it this way, FH expected to pay thousands, you found one for $300 so $1600 is right smack in the middle. You are going to wear it everyday for the rest of your life..it'll come out to less than a penny a day (i need to stop watching HSN and QVC) hhehe

my ring will be 700. we are getting it from tri county... it is going to be custom made so it can be flush up against my - 3 stone emerald e ring.

i just saw a nice one at walmart for $174 that im considering until we get more $$$ maybe for our 5 yr anniv.....that is of course when i get reengaged and married

I have a budget up to 2000. It's a personal preference really. I mean, if it's important to you to have the best now then get it. Most people say do it now because you won't get it later on.

exactly!! i cannot see us actually upgrading for quite some time, and this is platinum, so it wouldn't ever need to be upgraded! haha i'm just trying to rationalize spending the money!

Here is how I think of it.... this is your WEDDING BAND!!! This is something you will wear forever. Maybe, someday, your grandaughter will wear it or something along those lines. Therefore, when it comes to the wedding band, I really feel that if it is possible to get the one that you love, you really should. There are so many opportunities to save some money, but I think you have to go with your heart when it comes to your wedding band.

Fh found 2 for me one was 4,200 and the other was 3,600.....yes lots of bling, bling but . I say if he can get the diamonds alittle smaller and @ 2,000 then thats fine with me. Did I mention that swas with a discount since we know the jewlers!?!?

Hi Kim!! ('08 crashing!!)

We spent around $1K on mine, but we got a great deal (it was appraised at $2400!!! crazy!)....so I think $1600 is reasonable! Maybe try to negotiate a bit too--we got FH's ring at the same place so we were able to negotiate even more If you can afford it, than it's not too much--you'll have it forever and wear it every day!!

We're going to get matching Lucida bands from Tiffany's. Last I checked mine would be about $750 and FH's would be $1150. We'll see how much that price will go up by the time we get around to buying them.

Well it sounds good to me, but I'm def not the right person to ask. My wedding band cost $1500, but I got two so it came to 3000. Poor FH, his wedding band was like $400. I think I may have pics in my album

Thank you Maggie! Yes they go all the way around, I actually wanted them to be a bit smaller to match my ering better, but its our family jeweler and he thought he did me a favor by making them a little bigger. Well he did do me the favor . . .
