just curious, I know it's customarily 3-5 dollars per person for the maitre d on your wedding day. what are people leaning towards?

185 we just didnt feel like he did much. the bridal attendants - now wow they were great - we gave them each $200 - recommended tip was 75 but they just went above and beyond!!!!
The Maitre d kinda pissed us off but what can you do.

i was only going to tip the bridal attendant $50. is that too little? and I was thinking for the maitre d about $550 for 142 people. that's between $3 and $4 per person.

i know they recomended for our maitre'd 450-750
well i think it depends on how you feel. our bridal attendants were great so thats why DH gave them $200 - you will see how they will be the day of.

if he pissed you off you shouldnt send him a dime more. tipping is for people who go above & beyond, & RH's shouldn't make anyone feel like it is mandatory, & that a certain amount should be given.

I agree. A tip is just that- a tip for services...it is based on performance. I wouldn't worry about it or give him any more unless you think he went above and beyond.

My parents tipped him between 7-8 hundred. He did an AMAZING job!

my reception hall, the woodlands, wrote that the 'expected' tip is 5-7 per person...i thought that was high...i see i am right!!!

Sorry 09'er crashing but I used to work at an RH and I know some places say $3-$5 per person but I think thats a lot! I would tell people $2-$4. I just know they seem to do a lot but a lot also goes on behinds the scenes and the servers bust they butts!
The maitre d's get great money salary wise, and I was told that by 2 of the RH's I went to!

Our RH has a 1.50 pp managers fee on the contract, we are suppose to tip maitr'd on top of this fee?

My problem with this is that we were given a pp price and then on top of that they added tax and GRATUITY. So now why am I expected to tip even more??

I agree. But no matter what, even if I suggest an amount too high after all of this $$ my fiance' will flip-with or without the unlimited alcohol.

everyone knows nick is the best
we had $500 in the envelope and then my step dad added another $100 and MIL loved him too and she added another $100..if i could i would give him a months salary he is that amazing
