I have never been a BM so I have no idea how much they should cost... How much are your (or do you think) your BMs dresses will cost before tax and alterations? I feel like the ones I'm looking at are expensive. If you are okay with disclosing that info as a reply, can you let me know the designer and price? I am looking for a cute tea length dress that will look good on sizes 2-18.

bridesmaids are supposed to, however alot of brides have been paying for the dresses as their bridesmaids gifst.

my budget is limited ...verryyyyy limitted....and I feel that i should pay because this is my wedding.... where i came from the dont hve BM so its new for my family....

My BM dress is Lei by Raylia, and the price is about $180 I believe. I'm not going to pay for their dresses, I will just by them their jewelry and another gift as well for that day.

I love this Jim Hjelm (pic #1) but Bridal Reflections has it for $220! I also like this other Jim Hjelm (#2) and it is $210 at BR. Pic #3 is a Bill Levkoff that I also like and it is $180 it will be in that blue color.

Ohhh that one is adorable! I fell in love with this other gown when I was at BR but it was $300...too expensive for my girls! I wouldnt do that to them!

I'm amazed at what jcrew charges for simple black dresses.
I originally thought I would save my girls some money and have them buy a jcrew cotton dress.
It was more money than some upscale-ish bridal companies!

Yeah it can be insane sometimes. I found this dress when I was shopping at Banana Republic and I thought it was so cute but it was like $190! I just said forget it - we will go to a bridal store instead and get the attention and fitted and all of the added fun that come along with gown shopping!

Im using the jcrew dresses. Some of them vary in price, but are mostly between $150 and $200. I feel like that is a lot for the girls to pay, but I also hope maybe they will be able to wear them again.

I just asked all of my girls honestly what they could afford ...knowing the range would be much much different and am trying to keep it on the lower side .......and I am getting their Jewlery!!

My BM's haven't looked at dresses yet. We'll probably start later in the summer since they don't need as much time.
The last few weddings I payed less than $200 including alterations.
