how much credit card debt do both you /hubby have?

im just curious. we both have a decent amount of debt. I recenlt just took a bulk of it and took out a personal loan through my creditor bank. Im paying less interest and each month the payment is taken out of my checking. were paying it off and still trying to save in the house fund along with our other bills- rent, student loans, cable, cell, phone, etc...

about how much do you both owe. you can fm me if you dont feel comfortable sharing..

im just feeling in a depressed state right now!

we dont have any credit card debt. whatever we charge, we make sure we pay it off in full when the bill comes.

I paid off my student loans already also.

I have zero credit card debt. My girl has something like 500-1000 from some recent purchases, but thats pretty minor. We could pay that off if we want.

Im excited cause this is my last year of debt for a while. Come March of next year, my car will be paid off, my student loans will be paid off, my furniture bill will be paid off. Once all of that is paid off... I am gonna start claiming my proper tax deductions for my mortgage (I currently claim single 0 and get a huge refund every year).

Once I do all of this, ill be able to take him at least a grand more a month. That will be good stuff.

That debt is from the loss we took from our wedding, plus our HM that we had to change at the last minute. We are still waiting for the travel insurance to refund us....about $4500 is from that

What do you mean you took at 20K loss from your wedding???? How could it be that bad? Oh my God - I am so sorry. What happened?

eta: I have 31K in loans, 5k in cc debt. Fh has about 2k in cc.

I have student loans.. that's it.. I worked so hard to get out of credit card debt before I got engaged.. and I was able to do it and will hopefully not be in that debt again! FH is so anal about money, so he's the perfect match for me so I don't rack up the debt!

hbradio..... we did take a $20,000 loss on our wedding. It was awful. We had a ton of people stiff us (about 15) and many more ( almost 35 people) gave a gift of about $50 (which was waaaaaaaay less than what we paid). A lot of the 1st & 2nd cousins in DH's family were upset that they were not involved in the wedding, so that was how they 'punished' us.....

It was deplorable.

We have about 10,000 in CC right now. When we first got married about 1 1/2 years ago we had 20k so hopefully we'll be out of debt soon. We certainly learned our lesson and won't ever be putting ourselves in this situation ever again.

I also have school loans for the MBA I'm going for now, but I don't count that.. b/c CC debt and School debt really aren't the same thing.

Um, we have about 2500 debt in credit cards, but that's not so bad. It will be paid off soon. Now, JT's students loans....hehe, that's more near the 70,000 mark. That's life I guess.

I have 3 major credit cards and between the three, I usually carry over $500, the rest is paid off. I don't have car payments or school loans to worry about. FH doesn't tell me what he owes because most of it is from my e-ring. He's also still paying off his car and student loans. My parents want us to use the money from our wedding to pay off all of FH debt, but FH won't hear it. He says that they're his bills and he will pay them on his own.

Dh and I had 38k in CC debt. And no we did not start our life together like that.
He was hurt a few months after we got married and out of work for 2 years. I was preggers and was laid off when DS was 9 months old, and was out of work almost a year.
It wasnt about living beyond our means, We still had a mortgage to make, formula to buy, car payment to make... blah blah.
We were finally able to pay off all the debt when DH settled his workmans comp case. It was one of the best days of our marriage. March 23 2004.

As of this past February, none! I agree that credit cards can be harmful and you sholdn't live beyond your means, but sometimes you have to in order to survive. We had incurred a lot of debt when FH was laid off and out of work for a little over a year. We had no choice but to charge a lot so we could live. We needed our cash to pay our rent and the little things so we had to charge food, electric, gas. We had no choice. We didn't do extravagant things or go on any vacations. Our debt was so we could survive. Once FH was back at work, we made it our first goal to pay off the debt we incurred and not start our marriage off in debr. It took almost a year, but it is all paid off and an amazing feeling that we accomplished it.
