how much credit card debt do both you /hubby have?
im just curious. we both have a decent amount of debt. I recenlt just took a bulk of it and took out a personal loan through my creditor bank. Im paying less interest and each month the payment is taken out of my checking. were paying it off and still trying to save in the house fund along with our other bills- rent, student loans, cable, cell, phone, etc...
about how much do you both owe. you can fm me if you dont feel comfortable sharing..
im just feeling in a depressed state right now!

i dont believe in credit card debt......all of ours are personal debt.....if you dont have the cash then dont buy it....why do so many people live outside of there means....

I usually have about 1-2K on my credit card but usually make big payments to keep it low. Trying to have it at zero by the wedding.
DF has none.
We have some personal debt...student loans, mortgage and a car payment.
Trying to only have the mortgage in the next year or so so that we can basically be debt free when we have a baby.

our only credit card debt is because we lost my first engagement ring, insurance didnt cover it, so we bought a new one...but its just about paid off. Now loans...school loans..I have LOTS of them and Im still in school so they are racking up quickly. Credit card debt is easy to fall into..Im bad with money, would buy everything in sight but luckily Dh is great with money, so our debt is at minimum. Before DH, my debt was pretty scary. Dont feel stressed..you can apply for a 0% APR and transfer the balance and pay it off, once things start getting paid off you will feel better and more in control. Best of luck!!!

We have a lot of 'old' debt...cannot be refianced or put onto a lower APR...about $8000...and current debt is at about $1500
Plus school loans and day to day bills....

honestly, i wasnt asking for an opinion about credit card debt, i was just asking what people have.. My debt is also considered 'old debt' I was making $65 a day as a teacher assistant. even though you have a point, that was not the question.....

about $20,000.
That doesn't include both our car loans, my student loan, or the bike & quad
That debt is from the loss we took from our wedding, plus our HM that we had to change at the last minute. We are still waiting for the travel insurance to refund us....about $4500 is from that

i was once in pretty bad debt...well, not that bad, it was about $5000, but I was only make abut $7.30 an hour, so it was bad considering. my car broke down, and i lived 4 hours from home...so i was in torouble...i had to move home and start all over. after that i haven't had any debt...other than cars, and school loans. now i have a motrtgage and other expenses...so i am terrified of going into debt again, and i work really hard to stay out of it. good luck!!! don't stress though...there's always a way out

less than $5000 and most of that is because of the wedding expenses - after the wedding, my goal is to have NO credit card debt forever after (yeah right)

I'm in a debt counseling program. My credit won't be ruined. My debt shouldbe paid off by the end of the year. If I had to do it on my own, it would take me forever to pay it off. If you want info, FM and I'll give the details.

i appreciate everyones advice. most of my credit card debt is being paid off through a personal secure loan through my bank- it will take four years but it will be worth it. the bank deducts the $$ out every month so it forces me to pay it. and i canceled many of the cards i had...
i also have an american express card- so whatever i charge, i pay off right away.

Fh just paid off his cards (his were wors than mine)... I'm in the process of paying off my $2k balance (just large payments for the next 4 months and it will be gone). We each have a car payment, but mine is almost paid off.
I was once in a similar situation as you. I had about 10k in old debt; man did it hurt me; but I just stuck to a strict budget made more the minimum payments every month and then when my credit rating improved, I renegotiated my interest rates and paid off the remaining.... it was such a great feeling to not be chained to the cards.
Don't worry, you will be fine and you'll get through it and you will feel great when you do.
