I was just curious as to how much you ladies paid for your wedding dress. I saw a dress I really liked, but it was over 3,000 and my mom seems to think that 3,500 is a lot to spend on a wedding dress. I've seen dresses that are very similar to this dress, but this dress has swarovski crystals all over the top, which is probably why it's so much more. I'm just wondering whether I should splurge on the swarovski crystals or get a dress that is half the price that just has regular beading/crystals on it. What do you ladies think?

My dress with tax and alterations (they are capped) is 2700. But I could have bought something cheaper or more expensive, it didn't matter, because I was looking for a particular style and lacework.

It depends on your personal preference and finances. I personally wouldnt spend that much on a dress I will be wearing for a couple of hours/one day. You can easily shop around and find a gorgeous dress that is under $1500. Try looking at Maggies. I thought there were so many beautiful choices before I settled on the victoriana.
thats my dress too!!! i paid 890... so far!!! no alterations yet!!

Oops. I didn't include tax and special hem order in my original answer, so I answered twice . . . . sorry!!!!! I'm an idiot!!!
Are we including tax?? I didn't include alterations, but my second answer would cover that. Darn, didn't mean to mess up the poll!!
For what it's worth, my dress is (base price) 2700 more at Kleinfeld's than I paid here . . . VA is good for something!

Re: How much did you pay for your dress?
Orignally, I wasn't going to buy a dress at all I was just going to wear my mothers... Then I started working at a bridal shop and I found a dress I fell in love with... I decided to wear my moms dress to my ceremony for sentimental reasons and wear mine to my reception...
Anyway, to make a long story short and answer your question I paid $4,650 for the gown alone and then $450 for alterations.. All together with taxes, I paid over $5,000... My mom had a fit that I spent so much but I couldn't help myself, I loved it!!!
Then, 3 weeks later I went to Davids and found the Stephan Yearick replica of mine and it was exactly the same just not Swarovski cyrstals and a different material... For the hell of it, I tried it on and when I was putting it on, the crystals were falling off... They said 'oh we'll fix them, don't worry'... Really for almost 4K cheaper, it may have been worth it, but then I tought of doing my first dance as crystals fell of my gown... I changed my mind then and no matter how much my mom and FMIL calls me stupid for paying so much, I could really care less!!!
I am not saying anything bad about Davids because some of thier gowns are 100% gorgoues and perfect, but that one just wasn't going to do it for me and I had to have it...
Believe it or not, I am happy with what I spent and I would do it again!
