I went for my first fitting last night and including the bustle but not including the hem (I already paid for the hollow to hem), it's $320!
It seemed like more because the total was actually $405 since it included $85 for a slip. I almost passed out when I heard $405.
I lost weight since I ordered so the dress needs to be taken in a lot.
Anyway, is this normal?

I got lucky and so far I don't need any other alterations!!! (Thank you corset back and 5 1/2 heels!)

I lucked out. The owner of the bridal shop loves my MIL and is not charging me for alterations. She's also charging my girls only $25.

im budgeting like $1000 for alterations. Supposedly there's a $595 cap for alterations and my bustle is going to cost $295. I think it's absurd... i feel like there should be an industry standard... it's really variable!
This sounds like Bridal reflection prices, I just went for my dress fitting and those two prices are the most that it will cost you mine came out to about $700 for bustle and alterations and cups, I know crazy right. There really should be an industry standard!

125 at Helen's.....First time in my life I was happy to be tall!!! All I needed was a bustle (100) and basic alterations (press and clean 25)

Kleinfelds girls- does the alterations cap include changes you want to make to the dress other than taking up/in/ adding bra cups, etc.? I want to change mine to have a sweetheart neckline but don't know if that will be included in the cap.

My Hem is capped at $250 and the French Bustle is $250 My gown is just under $2k before alterations
So a total of $500 at Village Bridals in Babylon, I purchased my gown there. The BMs gowns were also purchased there and they capped their alterations at $75, their gowns are $225, so their total is $300.

I think the cap for mine is $500-600 but I don't know if that includes the actual dress alterations or if that's just for the bottom of the dress and the bustle, which will likely be a French bustle.
I'm not looking forward to seeing the bill for that!

I paid $200 when I dropped it off and had her start. When I pick it up, I owe her the remaining $275
