How much do you let dh contibute to decor? (in other words, do you let him display ugly things)

Dh and I just a had a HUGE blow out- becasue he had this ugly cartoon statue thing on our desk.
I put it away, and he says I don't let him have any of his stuff out.

Now, I really don't let him put his stuff out, but I do let him keep some things out, like his Gollum figure (that talks ) and his motorcycle model on our entertainment center.

So my point is, I do not want my apartment to look like a dorm room or bachelor pad. Am I wrong?

well, so far it isn't bad. But. . he didn't move a lot of his stuff in because we are moving. He is very attached to his Nightmare before Christmas poster. . and figureines. . .and snow globe.. .

I can't say no to that stuff, because he loves it so much, so we agreed the classier stuff can stay ( the porcelain figures, the snow globe) but he volunteered to put away the plastic figures & the stuffed Mayor.

The poster will probably be an issue. . .

He also has a Van Gogh print that I think is cheesey, but I told him its fine if we change the frame & now all of a sudden he is attached to a picture frame?

oh well, we will see when we move.

I always tell him he shoudl have lived in a dorm to get that out of his system ( he also wnat to leave Christmas lights up all year long.. . )

On new stuff, we mostly agree.

Oh lord, when he first moved in with me he had these dream catchers that he wanted to display them on the wall behind the bed.
Now, I like dream catchers, but these were HUGE BIG FURRY things, UGH, BUT, I proudly displayed them for him (still on a high of having him there!) He also has a lot of Sports related things that have not been put up for display.
Well we finally got our enlargement of our wedding picture so I took the BIG FURRY Catcher off the wall to put the picture there.
He has said nothing so far - its been a week.

im going to let him put all his stuff in the room we will be putting the computer so this way its all in one place and thats the room i will skip on the tour of the house when people come over

That was what we were going to do, but we can't afford a 2 bedroom right now, so ther eis not place for his stuff. When we do have a place with a computer room, I am not sure I want him to have free reign in that room though. I have to use the computer too!

Oh man, DH tries to put all this stuff out like a NY KNicks bobble head doll he got free at a game. Its not even a Knick, its the announcer!!! If you think thats bad, His friend was named employee of the month at Winthrop last month and they took B&W 8x10 glossy's of his friend to hang at the hospital and gave his friend some extras. Joe brought one home cause he thought it was so funny and framed it. He tried to hang it in our livingroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats the least of things I had to ban to the extra room (his room now).
