How much does Pre-Cana cost?

My FH and I recently decided we are going to take the Interfaith Pre-Cana but I just found out how much it costs ($250). How much does the church usually charge (if anything) and do you think it's worth the $250 to take the Interfaith Pre-Cana. We were both very excited about it thinking it may help us a lot but now that I found out how much it is, I am less excited. What do you all think I should do?

I think we paid a fee of $35 for the sponsoring couple to purchase food/beverages for the sessions.
We paid $250 as a 'donation' to the church in order to get married there, which included the classes.

i think it is necessary. ours was free. we are at st. annes in garden city, and we met 5 times (2 sundays and 3 nites during the week i think). ours was the first program they had like that i think, as opposed to the weekend thing. yeah, thats a lot of money. i am happy it was free, considering the 'donation' we have to make to get married there.

Our Pre-cana is free. When we get married we have to give money to the church.

I have to pay $125 (all day Saturday type of Pre-Cana). Plus $350 for the church, plus $125 for the organist, plus a $150 'holding fee' which they keep if you are late for the wedding (even if it's 5 minutes)...... (My church is in Queens.)

My Pre Cana was $225.00 that was through a parish. I found out after I sent $250.00 into Rockville Centre Diocese that each parish does their own and its just as valid as if it was the Diocese. Its also only 1 weekend day and 1 weeknight, rather than 2 weekend days. I would shop around.

My Pre cana is next month and it's $125. It's one Saturday from 9-5. I can't believe we have to pay for this. I think it's crazy.

Where are you taking Interfaith Pre-Cana? I'm Catholic and my FI is Jewish so that would be good for us.

Pre-Cana cost us $125 for a Saturday (9-4) and a $400 donation to the church on the day of our wedding.

Our Pre-Cana (starts this weekend) was $60. It's at St. Frances de Chantal in Wantagh. There is an extra session for interfaith, but it's not mandatory.

wow, I think I got shafted. Our pre-cana costs $100, and is over 5 weeks (one night a week). I have the sign up sheet in my bag, was going to mail today- maybe I will call around to see if I can get anything shorter!

Our pre-cana cost $25 and it was the in-home type. 4 nights in sponsor couples home, 2 at church.

Just curious - is everyone who responded here part of an Interfaith marriage? I am Catholic, (but not practicing) anf my FH is Jewish(but not practicing). I am worried about finding a priest and a rabbi to marry us, and I would like to find an Interfaith Pre-Cana. Does each church offer interfaith pre-cana? Also, we want to get married at the reception, which I think might make it more difficult. Has anyone had these issues? and can give some advice?

I found out about the Interfaith Pre-Cana through this site. I looked at the Rockville Centre Diocese website and found the info there. Even though it's much more than what everyone else is paying, I think it may be very helpful in the long run if we take this Pre-Cana... if anyone wants the link I can forward it to you when I get home.
