$129/place setting and I think that's pretty average. We initially picked a pattern that was $149//setting but th pattern was discontinued so we started over.

THanks ladies, this helps a lot. My set cost $119 a place setting so that's right where it should be. I don't feel guilty anyone thinking my set is on the expensive side.

Our is $186 @ Macy's but we found a website that a lot of our guests could buy pieces much cheaper - I recommend them for other manufacturer's & patterns too. Check out:

Re: How Much Does Your China Cost

I got the Mikasa Parchment 40 piece set that comes with eight place settings for $199.99 from BBB without the coupon. I thought about registering for a more expensive set but I liked this one and plus I knew I would have been like Monica from Friends with her china if I spent a ridiculous amount on it. I wound up getting two sets (16 place settings) for probably less than four settings of a different brand would have cost on their own!
