Re: How much does your FH do?

My FI has been very involved in the planning. He went to most of the vendors with me, except flowers and dress. He did call one of the florists for me b/c I was stressing out and I wasn't sure what to do and got more info for me. There are certain things I know he doesn't want to be too involved in so I don't bother him with that stuff (invitations). He made our STD's and did all the background work for our wedding website. We have not had one disagreement yet about the plans. Are we not normal?

Re: How much does your FH do?

Whenever I ask him for an opinion on anything, he gives his signature response, 'Whatever makes you happy, honey.'

makes you want to hurt them doesn't it !!

My FH went to all our meetings, but when it comes to the little stuff, it's like a switch turns and he hears nothing I say. I've been asking him to get his baby pictures for months to get to the videographer so he can do our montage, NOTHING, it took forever for him to get addresses and to finalize the list - I love him to death, but sometimes he's a pain in the A$$. In his defense, he's been working really hard though

'Most men are NID's....Not Into Details'

That's true... by and large we're not... I like to take care of the technical details (eg.video) of the Wedding.. but when it comes to making things look pretty.. I have resigned myself to 'that's her job'. It's not that I don't care. I just think women are better at it than guys.

Can you see a a guy doing the decorating or picking out centerpieces? LOL

Though there are a number of decisions where the guy SHOULD be involved.

Re: How much does your FH do?

sorry you're having problems

Jim is very helpful. I schedule appts for us to do things and he comes to everything. We live together and are so up in eachothers faces about everything you'd think we'd hate each other by now. It doesnt phase us at all. We just think like on person. One just starts the process. We talk about wedding plans over dinner and not much other than that. We talk about LIW drama and some folks on here we like (they probably don't know we speak often of them) but honestly we have other stuff to worry about and think about. Wedding stuff was handled way early on so we're not overly stressed.

Jim's great. He helped pick the centerpieces, helped figure out the cake, obviously helped on the hall, DJ & photo/video. He even helped figured out what accent flower to go with my bo-k so it would look good on his lapel. I feel so lucky sometimes. I know I sound goofy mushy but I do love him! hehe he even had a say in the BM dresses and is helping me pick out the jewelry for them. He's been to my make up trails and hair trials he's helped me pick out my shawl for the day. heh

I am fully involved. I go with Danielle when ever we have something to do regarding the wedding. I have done plenty of research on the internet, and picked out Vendors to go see....

Fh has been very involved in the process. He has opinions on things I didn't think he ever would. But I like it - he calls limo places and has been talking to travel agents. He hasn't said 'no' yet in terms of being involved.
In fact, he wants to see my dress & I was like No Way!

Re: How much does your FH do?

My FH gives me little to no help. He was involved in picking the reception hall (I went to 15, he came to 1) and the band, but that's pretty much it. He hasn't even seen the photo/video work, I did that on my own. He also hasn't seen the hotel we blocked rooms at. It gets really frustrating, but I deal with it the best I can. On the upside, I get to pretty much do what I want, so that's nice. Hopefully this weekend he will go look at tuxes.

Re: How much does your FH do?

FI does not do much...he helped pick the hall ( but I looked at like 7, he looked at 3) he helped me pick ' our song' but it took some time to even get an answer on that...he look's over the things I have but not too much...all he wants to do is pick the DJ songs...Some men are just not into the wedding things, it's ok though because knowing him, I knew he would be like thia and if I really needed him , after prodding for a few days he would help...when it gets bad I sit him down and explain that I need help..thats easier then yelling at him to do something when he's playing playstation 2!

Re: How much does your FH do?

am i the only one who's fiance helped pick out the centerpieces and invitations???? i feel like everytime a discussion about this comes up, those two things are deemed 'unimportant' for most men.

My FI was the same way. I could do anything without having him with me. We decided on the invitations, centerpieces, favor, seating card frames and alot of the little details for the reception together because he would not make me do it by myself. He said that it is my day too and I would like to know what is going on.

Re: How much does your FH do?

Well he doesnt DO anything as far as planning but he is very involved, if that makes any sense. He went to see all the halls (7 before we found 'the one'), and we are both going to see the photographers, etc. He wants to be there for everything and have a say but all he keeps saying is that whatever I want, I can get because it is mostly my day. Except the cake filling... it HAS TO BE chocolate pudding (his favorite).

Hmmmm advice... I guess maybe play a game? Like if he does _____ then he gets ____.

Good luck!

Re: How much does your FH do?

I gave my husband specific responsibilities with deadlines that he needed to take care of including:

limos
tuxedos
hotel room blocks for out of town guests
honeymoon

It worked out fine. Good luck!

Re: How much does your FH do?

FH is in charge of limos and the honeymoon... he comes 90% of the time to look at vendors with me ( he hates florists and photographers for some reason) and at first he wanted to see everything.. what bm dress what invitation.. but now that we disagree on some stuff he said for me to handle everything and just tell him when and where to show up - funny thing is he dosent even know when and where!!!! he always gets confused with the church by his moms - AND WE ARE USING THE CHURCH NEAR MY MOMS!! and for the first 9 mos of planning we were getting married at the hall at 5pm.. now its at the church at 3:30.... so of course he still tells people its a 5pm. Hes gunna be at the wrong church at the wrong time!!!
