Depends on the bakery and size. I was quoted $350 for a not so large cake in the shape of a patron bottle. I'm not buying it

WOW.... ummm find a smaller bakery.....
think small bakery... $4 - $5 a slice for fondant or hard work in detail....
your really paying for the time and service which is WELL deserved BUT smaller places dont compete so its usually more to their pocket and not the store... make sense?

i got a for the rd that feeds 80 people. we're obviously not having 80 people but the next smaller cake wouldnt be enough for everyone. soooooo our cake was 320... comes out to be about $4.

I think it really depends on what you are doing.
If you are asking the bakery to make a sculpted 3D cake it will def be more expensive. Versus if you are just doing a simple sheet cake. Intricacy of design.
It's not really apples to apples.
I have been quoted $180-$200 for a 3D Sculpted Helmet Cake dependent on filling.

my dads cousins makes fancy cakes for family & friends only. she is extremely talented. she quoted me $300 for a regular square cake with some of FHs favorite things on top. cartoon characters, Jets football helmet & PS3 (all miniatures). i only needed enough for 18 people, which means it came out to $16pp. when i spoke to her a second time she said it wouldn't be big enough for 18 people & in order to make it big enough it would be $400 which came to $22pp. i politely said thanks but no thanks.

it was audrey's.....i sent her a few pics of Penn State related things and she quoted me anywhere from like 1500-2500 for all of the different pics. I was flabbergasted
