my brother's wedding is in chicago this weekend (that's where we're from), and he and his fh didn't register because they want cash, which is fine by me, but i have no idea what's an appropriate amount to give... please help. he's my brother, so i don't want to be cheap, but i don't even have a gauge for this. every wedding i've been to was while i was in school and there were registries... i feel completely lost without a registry! help!

Re: how much is appropriate?
I would think $300 and up is appropriate. I am going to be my sister's MOH and I plan on giving more. However, if I was in a bad place financially, I think $300 is appropriate.

Re: how much is appropriate?
I'm guessing things are a little different in Chicago, but for a NY wedding I would say around $500 for a sibling.
ETS- DH's brother gave us $800 (whic we gave back a few months later for his wedding) and his sister gave us $500.

Re: how much is appropriate?
I think between 400-500. I gave my best friend (who is like my sister) 400 for her wedding. I think that is appropriate

Re: how much is appropriate?
I am telling my siblings not to give me anything. Their gift will and has been helping out with everything. They are a great help and I wil not accept a gift.

Re: how much is appropriate?
I think it depends on you're particular situation. When I was my older sister's MOH I gave her about $100, but I was in school and therefore very poor. My other sister got married this summer and we bought her about 500 dollars worth of china (I'm no longer a full-time student).

Re: how much is appropriate?
$500 is what we were thinking but we weren't sure if that was enough, too much... we just had no idea at all. Thank you ladies!!! As always, you've been very helpful!!!
