I had found a website that did custom toppers (based on your photos) and they could also add our dogs (from pic) but it was like $1400 or something outrageous! I just saw something non-custom that I kinda liked and it's $150, which for what it is, still seems like a lot. So just curious what everyone else is spending.

If you can afford it, then get it. But I spent a total of $35.00. $20.. for the cake topper base and the $15.00 for the barbie and ken.

We spent $0...we didn't bother with one because the top of our cake was decorated and there was no place for the topper to go.

We didn't buy one, since the hall said they only put it on for pictures, so I said forget it, my cake didn't need one anyway.

Actually this is one area that I got lucky..
I'm using a bell w/ 2 doves on it that my FH aunt gave us as an engagement gift. It's very pretty.
My only worry is it maybe too heavy to put on the top of the cake, but the caterer said he would take a look at it and let me know.. I'm crossing my fingers it's not too heavy or else i'm going to have to pick something out...

Get out!!! Villa's only puts it on for a few pics??? I like the old look of cakes that my family has had. And these are old fashioned barbie and ken so they look like the ones back from the 50's-60's cake toppers. Now I am bummed.

Our real one was $50 but I collect Kim Anderson so that was the other reason I wanted it. The other one which was a joke and a dare was $25 I think

We had a Kim Anderson figurine that was probably around $40 but like Jamie, it was more for a collection. I also won an old fashioned cake topper off ebay for $10 that I loved. Turns out our florist decorated our cake (for free ) so these items sat on a table.
So to answer your question, $50 but we had a lot going on over there

I don't think I'm getting a cake topper, because I might have the cake decorated with flowers. Whwat I really want is a Lladro ceramic piece to put on our cake table and of course keep later. The one I want is going for lik 400, don't think FH will let me spend that much though.

Holy cow - $1,400!!??
I have my eye on two cake toppers (which will probably end up sitting next to, not on the cake). They're about $50-$60 each. I have a feeling that they will 'magically' appear as wedding gifts (thanks to my Mom!).

I know $1400 is CRAZY but when I first saw the website I was soo excited. You send them pictures of yourself & they make it look like you. We thought it would be so cool to have us & our dogs.

There is another website that has custom ones for around $350. They are amazing! I think the designer is still or was a Knottie.

Ebay!!! Total of somewhere around $29 including shipping and insurance. Also might not go on top of the cake, but we loved it when we saw it. I kind of like the traditional looking caketoppers like our parents had... the plastic base, and the lacy arch with the little bride and groom in the middle. I'm just cheesy like that. LOL. This is ours. It's one of those hinge-box things.
