How much is everyone spending on their e-party?

Original post by pumpkin744

We had to cancel our way back in January and are back to planning it, kind of last minute. We will probably end up at a fire department even though we wanted it in FH's house. We thought we could manage with the house, then decided on getting a tent, which was very expensive. Anyway, with all the money we originally spent on favors and invites and the money we are going to spend now, I can't believe how fast it adds up. It really is like a mini wedding, which was exactly why we were trying to keep it at the house so it wouldn't be such a production.

How much have you spent or do you think you will spend?

had it at the house. spent about 6,000, we had about 125 people. we had a tent, caterers, servers, decorations, dj, favors, 2 bartenders, and LOTS of alcohol
it was fun. pics in my album

Your pics look awesome! We were looking to spend quite a bit less that you did since we have the wedding costs and are looking to move out as well. Every penny counts now. It looks like you had a nice party though!

It depends how many people you are going to have. I have to look but I might still have the name of the tent people we used, we needed a huge tent..the largest one they had... but they had really good prices. If you arent inviting as many people the cost will be considerably less. If you want ideas or help let me know, I cant totally help you

we had ours at the inn at new hyde park, it was amazing. it was alittle over 5k for 75 people, not including invites, favors, table arrangements and a few other things.
everyone is still talking about the food, so if its in your price range, you should check them out.

$1500 at the local Fire Dept. Had it catered, open bar, DJ, favors, invites, etc.

We're not having one! Everyone is so spread out it would be very hard to get everyone together, so we're just going to let everyone take us out to separate dinners, nights out, etc. all year long!!!

hopefully under $1,000
it is going to be in my mom's backyard for about 80 people
but everyone is going to bring food
it is mostly family and they prefer to cook!

FMIL is hosting it at her house in the backyard this summer. She said the cost will be under $1K, but I don't see how (she is getting a tent, catering, and I think we will have at least 50 people). I don't want the food to be bad, but I think she was just planning to get bagels and stuff, which I am not thrilled with. I would rather spend the money myself at this point and have it at a restaurant.

I'm guessing you don't know the tent company since your FMIL is hosting it. We were quoted at $650 for a frame tent that holds 80 people. It is too much money compared to the firehouse we found for $550. I wish I could find a cheaper tent so we could have it in the backyard.

I'm having the same problem! With just the immediate family invited we are at 130!!!!!
And every place I or my MOH calls its like $80.00 per person! Its like a small wedding. I just want a nice place with awesome food and room for a dj.
Is that too much to ask?? LOL
