How much is too much for a trial

I was quoted $100 for a makeup trial and $300 for day of and wanted to know if this sounded like too much. I wanted to get opinions before I scheduled the trial. TIA

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rediculous....

I am a makeup artist, as some of you know, and I charge 25 for trials, and 100 for the day. And the more women that want their makeup done, the less I charge. 50 per bridesmaid, MOB, and so on...... This one is a rip off, trust me!

Re: How much is too much for a trial

It seems like a lot to me...i had a trial that cost $50 and the day of would have been $220 and I decided it was too much especially since my BMs & mom would have to spend about $150 if they wanted to get their makeup done...i thought it was just too much to ask them to pay

I wouldnt mind paying the $300 if I absolutely loved the artist's work and thought I wouldnt find something that makes me happier but its the $100 trial that I wouldn't be willing to do!!!
Thats just too much $$ for a trial IMO.

I think I am paying 75 for the trail and 125 for the day of. That sounds like a lot to me.

That is insane...think of how many other more important things you could spend your money on....there are people who are wonderful for much less!

OMG! I was stressing about some of the quotes I've gotten and they were not as much as that!

Did you try denise from angel eyes, marie katz, jacqueline nicole. I don't know what you are looking for but maybe you can find it with one of them--
I know that marie katz only charges $45 for trial and $135 for day of includes airbrush and denise is $30 for trial but I am not sure about day of. Jacqueline Nicole was booked for my date when I called her.

it's a lot of money. there are vendors out there who doesn't charge you for makeup trial and charge you $25 if you want to try airbrush. look into vendors here.

It seems like a lot - Mine is $250 for the day of, but the trial was free, and she refused to accept my offer of a tip. -

If you're not comfortable with it, that means it's too much.

There are lots of makeup artists out there who charge $200 and up just for the trial (especially in Manhattan). I had trials that were free, and some that were pretty $$. And the more expensive ones weren't necessarily the ones I liked the best. I would suggest trying makeup places that are less expensive for the trial and keep on going up if you're not happy.
