I am just curious of the average budget couples are spending for their entire wedding-including everything. So far... I think mine is overboard on the price. Does anyone have any ideas on cutting costs?

It depends on what you are spending the money on. There is always a way to cut costs, but you have to think of what is important to you and what you could live without.

Around $36K including rings and HM. From what I can tell, it's about average for a LI wedding and if you ask me it's WAY WAY WAY too much!
The knot did a poll on their 'take our poll board' asking everyone what their budget was.... I was SHOCKED to see that people could pull off a wedding for $5K in some states!!

Some ways I have cut costs include doing a lot of research, using this site and feedback on various vendors and Ebay. Suprisingly they have a lot of good wedding stuff.
we are also making our own CD favors and I have been playing with the idea of doing candle centerpeices instead of flowers.
Remember everything is negotiable!!

I think when it starts to feel like it's too much you can cut costs on things that may not be that important. Of course evrthing is important but there has to be some level of priority. I decided to cut on invits and my centerpieces. we also decided to go with a DJ/Band combo to save on getting a band. My pictures are very important to me so there we spent a lot but I'm pleased! also our hall I love and it meant a lot too........

too much
Until last month I was on budget.. $18,000
Now Ive thrown that out the window. I want different invitations and I want different centerpieces plus add in the cost of hair and makeup trials.. FORGET it!

Our wedding budget is about 31,000! W/O the honeymoon! We are actually below that at this point but we ahve ALOT to do still so I think we will probably come in at about that! YUCK!

We're around $25,000 now without the wedding and engagement rings and a few other little things. Best way to cut costs - EBAY! I got a lot of things there, my tiara, parts of my favors, votive candles and holders.

Our budget is $20,000 and we are almost exactly on the mark. What helped was making a list of what was really important to us.

We are spending more then I could ever imagine. I could have bought a townhouse with the money we are spending We never had a budget because everyone always says they never stick to them anyway. So, we figured why waste the time. We will just take everything step by step.
