How much is your wedding gown?

Original post by MrsLarrea2B

***Oh boy, I've done it again. FORGIVE ME! I didn't mean to say that the lesser priced dresses dont photograph well. I am actually considering getting the Maggie Sotero Victoriana. The fact that its affordable and gorgeous is a plus. Which prob. explains why my fam. is pissed at me that I still havent made up my mind.***

P.s. I really need to stop working and pay more attention to the LIW drama before they get out of hand.

A friend of mine bought a maggie sotero and it is BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS and just as good in QUALITY as mine. If i would have waited and tried on some maggie sotero gowns i probably would have went with it. Its not about how much you spend on the dress. its all about how you FEEL in the dress. When you put it on regardless of the pricetag if you feel WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL in it thats all that counts.

First off, I don't believe the more money you spend on the dress the better quality or more beautiful it is. I've seen some heinous dresses that are very expensive. I believe Kleinfeld's sells 90% of them. If you love your dress and you feel beautiful in it, that's all that should matter. Not who makes it, or how much it costs.
With that being said, my dress was $300. It's beautiful and I feel like a princess in it.

I Agree! Although I still feel like my dress was pricey, I also tried on some dresses in the 4-5K range and it was easy to say no -- not that they weren't of great quality, but they just didn't work for me, and it was actually the style of the 'cheaper' dresses I tried on that I loved.

I think in a way you get what you pay for. I think the quality of the dress shows in the pictures you take. Like I said before I never thought about spending 5K on my dress. I honestly only wanted to spend 2K. But after seeing and trying on the Eve of Milady and Amalia Carrara gowns, I don't think I can settle for anything less. My family keeps fighting w. me telling me to get a Maggie Sottero b.c they are very affordable...but I still havent made up my mind. I hate this!!

I do not agree with that at all! Just because a dress is not so expensive does not mean it does not photograph well! I am really thinking you say this stuff just to get people upset or offended! I have not even gotten my dress yet and I am offended by this. You have seen what others girls have spent on there dresses and now saying if its less pretty much its not good enough is just ignorant!

Mine will be $1250 and alterations won't cost more than $300. I'm getting a lot of cr*p from my mom because it's my second dress (the first one cost $350). I wish she could see how much some people are spending on dresses. Over 5K?

Re: How much is your wedding gown?

i think you can get a cheap dress with poor quality and i also think you can get an expensive dress that is poor quailty - some wedding dress designers are like having the namebrand - you really are paying for the name on the tag....what matters is if you feel beautiful in your dress - i couldnt stomach spending anymore than 3k on a dress i was only going to wear for a day and i ended up finding a dress that i really liked that was below my budget - i was more interested in spending money on other aspects of the wedding i knew i could easily fall in love with a 6k dress so i didnt even bother looking at any hahahahaha

Larrea seriously do yourself a favor and either 1. watch what you say and how you say it...

(Its complete BS that a dress is gonna photograph different in pics... The only thing I will say is that I think its the type of material that photographs differently... I bet you that you couldn't even pick out a cheap v expensive one in a lineup)

or 2. make yourself a new screenname or else no1 is going to want to respond ot your posts anymore...

I really honestly can say, that I dont understand you in the least bit... Funny how you disappear after you write something idiotic...

for once, i wasnt offended by somethin this broad said...

however, i can see why some people were.

i'm proud of my bargaining skills.... finding equally good things for half the price...

when i actually do get married, i know that i'll have more money to spend on something else... and like i said before.... i could wear a garbage bag and fuzzy bunny slippers... and i'd still feel like a princess.

and i think every bride who loves herself, her future husband, and her friends and family wouldnt think twice about how little or how much they're spending on a dress because in the big picture, the dress means nothing.

in my opinion. (p.s. im adding 'in my opinion' to every post so i dont get in twubble.)

I agree with everything you just said. Its just rediculous that everything Larrea posts seems ok at first but then its turns negative with a later post.

No drama please!

This was a really fun topic before these hints of drama began! I still want to read what others spent on their dresses, so lets ignore this drama for now and get back to the fun stuff! I have enough drama at work, this is my escape from it!

Re: How much is your wedding gown?

I just wanted to say that a 10K dress will not make your pictures or you more beautiful on your wedding day. Early on I decided that I am a lucky girl - I am a slim 5'11'' and trust me I look as good in a mon cheri dress as I do in a kenneth pool. I am lucky in that I work very hard and can buy a 5K+ dress but in all honesty so far the cheaper ones are just looking better on me. I pull off simple classics better than a monique L.

Quality and Price do coincide sometimes but not always. Just look at the piks of old brides on here. Some of the girls in Maggies and much cheaper dresses looked just as good as, if not better, than the girls in 7K dresses.

PS. Did anyone see the platinum wedding at the Brownstone on WE with the bride in a 10K sweater top dress- point proven!

That's what I was saying about Kleinfeld's dresses. Disgusting.

Re: How much is your wedding gown?

This chic needs to watch what she says, she's beginning to annoy everyone.

It is someones personal preference what they want to spend on a gown. Some people will spend more on the dress and cut corners on something else and some would rather spend less on the dress and more on other wedding things.....there is nothing wrong with that at all!!!

To say that someone who spends less on a dress will look worse than someone who spends more on a dress is ignorant!!!
