I realize it varies, but from your experience, if a wedding cost $130 on a Saturday evening in June, what would it cost in January or February? March? Will the bands discount for a Saturday night in January or February? March?

If you're looking for ways to save money, something you might want to consider is having it on a Thursday. (My second runner up for a reception place was a mansion that offered to charge $85 pp for a Thurs.! FM me for details.) The vendors will definitely give you a nice big discount for a Thursday date, and you will have your pick of the litter since there will most likely be no competition for your date!

We didnt know it was cheaper when we decided on a Januay wedding..but when we found out..it made us even happier!! Ours is a friday night and in the winter and we are saving a fortune..its 20 a person for teh friday night..plus 10% for January..it all adds up. We are having a GREAT menu for a GREAT price!!

Thanks girls. Hmm... Don't think parents will agree to Friday night or Thursday night or Sunday night which looks like gives you a bigger discount than winter (which they may not agree to either ). SO annoying b/c I think I could have the wedding of my (reasonable) dreams Fri in January. Guess will have to show them #'s or try to get a last-minute discount?

It also depends on which halls you are looking at. You will always get a better price (no matter what season) if you choose a hall that does more than 1 wedding at a time. Some people don't like that idea but it makes a difference. When you choose a 1-wedding at a time place, you are paying extra for the exclusivity and privacy right off the bat.

I'll give you a few examples of price ranges & months. I am getting married on a Sat. afternoon in Nov. & I was originally quoted a price of $79.95/pp but I got East Wind to come down to $65.95/pp. My friend just got married at Lands End last month on a Friday night & it was $140/pp (w/ tax, it came to $165/pp). Basically, prime months are June (maybe even May) thru October. I think the cheapest month of all is March. I was engaged previously & had booked Westbury Manor for a Sat. afternoon in April at $65/pp. When I tried to haggle on the price, the Mgr. told me he could give me a Sat. night in March for like $55/pp so that's a big difference between seasons and day & night weddings. It's lots less....For March 6th afternoon I'm paying $53 pp plus tax......it was $59 for Sun and I think $65 for Sat night.

I got married in January and it was a lot less expensive. BUT some things may cost you more, like your honeymoon and flowers. If you want exotic flowers it is going to cost more( which is why I went with roses ) I loved my winter wedding

Whose wedding is it- yours or your parents? Ask when the prices change. If they go down Nov-Mar, either have it the first week of Nov or the last week in Mar. It really does vary from hall to hall.

What area were you looking at?

We are getting married in March, and so far have been able to negotiate winter discounts - at least 10% for almost everything (although we don't have everything done yet). Guaranteeing a lot of people also helps in terms of driving down the price pp at the hall.

I got a cheaper price for a daytime wedding.
I know it's about $10 cheaper for a winter wedding.. and if it's a Friday or Sunday it's even cheaper. I wonder how cheap it gets if it's a daytime wedding on a holiday in the winter (like Thanksgiving)
