For those of you that took pictures pre-ceremony... How much time did you set aside and end up using for picture taking? I'm planning to take pictures pre-ceremony with FH and our wedding party. I'm trying to come up with a day-of timeline and was wondering how much time i should set aside for picture taking. I'm setting aside 2 hours. Too short? Too long? Just right? Our ceremony starts at 5:30pm on a Sunday. I have 4 bridesmaids plus myself to get hair and makeup. Can you girls help me out with a basic estimated timeline? Thank you~!

Re: How much time for pictures??
I did not take pictures before the ceremony, but I can tell you that after the ceremony we were taking pictures for about 2 hours (that was all together though <--us, BP, parents, and family).

We did pics before the ceremony and they spent an hour w/ just me getting ready and alone shots. Give yourself 2-2 1/2 hours, just in case. You need time to get back to your suite and touch up before the ceremony also.

We did about 3 hours of pics before... but we went to two locations and then took some at the hall before the ceremony started. We wanted to get everything done so we wouldn't miss the cocktail hour.

We did pics before - all at one location and it took about 2 hours.
ETA: That does not include the getting ready pics that were taken at my parent's house. Those pics took about another hour.

Re: How much time for pictures??
I didn't take pictures before the ceremony, as it is bad luck to see the groom before the ceremony.
However, our church was at 4:00 and ceremony last a half hour...
When I started getting dressed, it was about 1 hour of pix Before I left for the church, pix took 1 hour with bridesmaids, indiviudals with bridesmaids, and just me and my parent pictures, ect. Family pix took about a 1/2 hour. Then me, DH, and BP went to beach to take pix, we were there for about 1/2 hour, then we went to Villa Lombardi's, our Rh and took about an hour and a half of pix. Then during out receptions, candids and poses here and there but I requested to my photographer that I wanted to go out with DH and take pix outside of Villa Lombardi's at night, which was another half hour.
Even with all that, I feel like I should have had another hour or so of pix, truthfully! It was hard because from my church in Bethpage, we needed to take the family pix, then get to the beach [Lindenhurst] for pix, then drive to Villa Lombardi's [Holbrook] all on a Friday night, so it qas difficult time-wise but everything did run smooth. I also wound up NOT being able to go in the back of Villa Lombardi's, unforuntirely because there wasn't enough time, and we were still outside taking pix when people were arriving for the cocktail hour. I should have stayed outside though, but I was all like 'oh I don't want anyone to see me!'
You're ceremony is late for a sunday especially. So I can understand why you would want to take pre-ceremony pix. Why such a late ceremony?
In my opinion, I think you should set aside at least 4 hours of picture taking with u and DH and BP and family. [inluding getting dressed, ect] Possibly 5. . . GOOD LUCK!
