Re: how much time is there between your Ceremony . . .
well right now our ceremony starts at 3pm and CH starts at 6:30. We may push our ceremony back to 1 or 2pm because I'm not sure if its enough time in between to take pictures and do some indian traditional stuff back at the house. Also, since the time changes right before our date, it gets darker earlier so we have to make sure that we start taking pictures by 4pm at the latest because i believe the sun starts setting at 5:30pm. Hope that helps!

Our wedding ceremony was at 3pm. Our CH began at 7pm and Reception began at 8pm. I wanted a gap in the middle of the both of them because I wanted ALL family pictures to be taken and FINISHED with before the CH.
We had our reception at the Sheraton so I knew the people staying over would want to check-in and relax before the CH. It worked out wonderfully.

Zero! We are getting married at the reception hall. Personally, Anything more than 3 hours between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of the reception is too much time in my opinion.

Our ceremony is at 2:30 and the cocktail hour isn't until 7:30!!! I know, it's a long time. Originally I was very concerned about this, but the more people I talked to and the more I thought about it, it isn't so bad. The guests can come to the ceremony and then go home and get ready. I know that when I go to a wedding I would much rather go to the church and then come home, relax, and then get dressed to go to the reception. Oh well, too late to change it now! If people think it's too late, they don't have to come
And also, then we can have all our pics done before the CH and everyone can be free to enjoy themselves!

Ceremony starts at 4 (all the way in Brooklyn and it is a full mass)
Cocktail Hour starts at 7 (All the way in West Hempstead and I will not be attending the cocktail hour--we will be taking pictures)

not enough! our chapel is on the same grounds as our reception. Our mass is at 5pm so by 6:15 or so our guests will head into the cocktail hour and we'll try to do our pics during that hour.

ceremony at 3:30, reception at 6:30, but there is also a 45-minute drive between the two.
I don't feel comfortable saying what is 'too much time' between a ceremony and reception. Everyone's circumstances are different, the reason for the timing of ceremony and reception may be different (or only what was available!) and guests always adjust and have a great time. There are enough other things in life to worry about.

My Ceremony starts at 10am and my CH starts at 12:30pm. I have a 40 minute commutte to the reception hall from the church. I am hoping my ceremony only last about 30 minutes tops, but we we will see what happens.

Church is at 3 and cocktail hour is at 7. When you're dealing with church sometimes you don't get a say. This was the latest time our church would do. I was stressing about it but then realized there were so many more things to stress about so I let it go. There is the drive and in my case the possible inclement weather to think about and well these are supposed to be the people closest to you. I don't think they'll be put out having to entertain themselves for a little while.

ceremony is at 1130 and CH starts at 12. they're both at the same place so i thought it would be silly to wait in between.

Our ceremony is at 2 and the cocktail hour will start either 5 or 5:30, depending on the sunset. Our church is a 25 minute drive to the reception, but most of our guests are staying at the Sagamore or near it, so they could go to their rooms and change if they wanted to or watch us take pics at the hotel...

Ceremony @ 6:30, reception @ 7:30. Just enough gap for people to get to the reception. I didnt want people to have to wait around for the party to start. We took all our posed photos beforehand which left us to relax and enjoy the ceremony and reception.
