how much was...

each place setting for your:

everyday china

and

formal china?

i'm having an issue right now because i think that my everyday dinnerware is expensive, so i feel bad asking for china on top of it! i just fell in love with these dishes and now nothing compares.

I didnt register for formal china.. I just thought I was never going to use it and its sooo expensive.. my everyday dinnerware is really nice that I registered for, and when I do invite the family over for dinner, hopefully they wont be looking at the plates and instead will be enjoying the FOOD!

i already have my everyday dinnerware bc we bought it when we moved in together in oct.....My china is not the ordinary china......its still expensicve its like $200 for a set of four of dinner plates, salad plates, bread & butter plates, cereal bowls, rim soup bowls, teacups and tea saucers. so i put 3 on my registry

We are still on the fence about ours...its the Noritake wave... we love it.. but its $85 per place setting...

i know we are really never going to get the 12 we need.. bc if we do that means we wont be getting anything else on the registry so im really thinking aobut taking it off... Id rather have a nice everyday set than a fine china we probably will never use...

Everyday china- 59.99
Formal China- 119.00

We don't have a single dish, so we registered for everything. People actually are complaining that we don't have enough on the registry, I thought we had a lot!!

We registered for $50 everyday and it comes in a set of 4. We're not sure yet if we're getting formal ones

We actually are not registering for any dishes. FH and I live together, so we bought our everyday plates (which we love so much) when we first moved in together (about 6 months ago). As for formal china, we are not registering for that because we don't want it. I can never see myself using it, so i don't want to ask people to spend money on something i never plan on using.

Re: how much was...

we are not going to register for formal china, just casual everyday dinnerware but I wouldn't want it to be too too much per place setting.

My formal China is $129 a setting.. more than I would have liked but oh well

For my casual china, I'm making sure to do a SET.. I would hate to ask for place settings of casual china, so I registered for 2 sets.. One is a set for 4 place settings and only $70 and then another is a set with 6 place settings I think and is about $220 but is always on sales for almost half that at Macys

Maybe you can use the casual as your formal? Theres no rule that says you NEED to have both.. Maybe have that, then register for a cheaper casual set... Or pick an inexpensive formal china.. Mikasa Love Story is beautiful and was my front runner for a long time and is only $49.99 per place setting

Re: how much was...

thanks so much girls!! i just wrote on the BHB board- I wound up doing some more shopping last night and I think i found a cheaper everyday alternative at crate & barrel. it's important to me to have everyday AND formal, so finding that cheaper everyday was a must. it was really helpful to see ballpark figures for everyones china too.

thanks for all of your input!

Re: how much was...

i don't know yet if i am registering for my china.
we are only have about 100-110 guests at the wedding so it will probably be half of that at the shower. we need a lot more important stuff that formal china.
i had seen the love story pattern from Mikasa before and since it was cheaper i was thinking of registering for it, so if no one gets it for me, i would still be able to buy it for myself.
i was thinking of just registering for those 8 piece serving sets of plates that come in one big box at BBB for like $80
