FH and I were having this discussion with FILs the other night, and apparently, we have 2 VERY different opinions when it comes to this.
If you don't feel comfortable answering, you can give a range.
$100-200 per couple $200-300 per couple $300-400 per couple $400-500 per couple $500+ per couple
Also, do you feel venue affects how much you give?

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
We always give 250-300 depending on who it is. We never take the venue into consideration.

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
Venue for me DEF changes the price! I try to cover plates (although in NY this is not always possible) I would say 150/pp going and more if it is a close friend or extremly expensive wedding.

$200 - $300 is usually my gift, but if i know the venue and day is significantly cheaper than normal, i'll give less and vice versa. if i'm in the BP, i give significantly more.
ETA: i'm probably the only one that is saying venue and day of the week matters, but to me it honestly does.
I kind of agree. I give 200-300.

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
We normally give between &200-$300 depending on our relationship with the people gewtting married.
The venue to us does not matter or make a difference in our gift to the person. Too many people think that getting married is a money making process and think they will get back what they put out. Unfortunately, 9 outta 10 times your going to end up in the hole.

the venue will never affect how much we give the couple. It's the couple's choice where they want to have their wedding and if it costs a bit more than your average venue, than so be it.
If FH and I are going to a wedding for a friend, we usually give $250-$300 range.
If it's a very close/best friend, we give $400-$500 range.
If it's family, we give $500 and up.
THIS!!

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
It depends. When we were younger and sitll in college I'd give $250 per couple unless they were very close to us. I'd consider this the absolute minimum gift from 2 people for a wedding.
Usually we give in the $300-400 range. I think for my best guy friend we gave $400 or $500.

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
for us it depends who its for : friends, family-- family is always more, do we have to travel--- if so we give a little less But I will always give between $150-500 if I had more $$ I would probably give more.

We usually give $200. If we made more money, maybe we would give more, but at this point in our lives this is what we can afford.

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
I have a question related to this. FH and I are going to his cousin's wedding in Los Angeles this weekend. FH is the best man and I am a BM. How much do you think is appropriate considering we are already spending a ton travelling out there and paying for regular BP expenses?
I said $500 from both of us is plenty, but FH wants to give $750-1000!!! With all of our own expenses that is a lot of money to us.
What do you all think?

i would never and have never given less than 300 per couple
the amount would change based on how close I am to the couple and whether or not I am in the BP
location and day does not affect how much I give
Exactly This.
300 is my min for a couple. If it's family or I'm in bridal party I usually do 500.
Venue, time of year, and day of the wedding absolutely plays into it for me..... after looking at venues from under 100 to over 200 - I think I have a pretty good idea of the cost pp at various RH and use that to help come up with a number

$500 is perfect especially considering the added expenses of travel.

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
200 is minimum 225- 50 is average
depends on how close we are and how broke we are LOL
venue is not a consideration I'm not giving you less then $200 cause you got married at a K of C
but I'm not giving you more than $400 just cause you wanted to pay $250 per head

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
just a reg person that i'm not super close with 300. Close friend / fam 500+ depending how close and then immediate family is a completely different story.
Venue wouldn't effect how much i gave

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
I say $300-$400 per couple.
Venue does not affect my decision.
And if it's a close friend or family i'd give $400-$500 per couple.

Re: How much would you bring to a wedding??
I usually give $200-$300. For weddings i'm in...maybe $400. These numbers are per couple. Family, maybe a little more.
Venue does not really matter. However, off Long Island I would never give that much. It's definitely a Long Island/City thing.
