I tipped $20...

I tipped $20. However, 20% of $50 would be $10. I would say $20 if you like how she did it and $10 if you if you didn't.

I thought the rule is that you don't have to tip if the person owns her own business?

The trial was $100, which gets credited towards the cost day-of since I booked her, I tipped $20 (20% of the 'cost' even though since I booked it was free)

ETA: I was half asleep and wrote that I tipped 50%, not 20%... whoops. Fixed it, I can do math!

Thanks so much ladies. I was planning on giving her $10, but wasn't sure whether that would be appropriate. Feel better now. :)

Theres no rule. Its a courtesy. Its just a thank you for taking the time out to help me. And FYI even if someone owns the business that money doesnt go in their pocket. So they rely on tips too. Sorry I'm a hairdresser and my dad owns a salon so I was speaking from experience LOL

I didn't tip for my hair or makeup trial since both ladies did it out of their homes and the money for the trials went directly to them.

omg i got so nervous cuz I went to a trial last sunday and I didnt tip because I figured she owned her own business and the money was going straight to her anyways. I hope that was ok!

Everytime I do hair at someones home I always get a tip. They tip out of appreciation. Its just a courtesy thing
