I am having 4 flower girls. Two from my side, and two from my FH's side. My cousins will be 6 and 8. My FH niece's will be 9 and 12. Is 12 too old to be a flower girl? If so, any ideas on where to include her? I want to have her in my wedding party somehow. Thanks.

I agree that 12 is too old. When I think of a flowergirl, I think of ages 4-6 or 7. I would make her Jr. bridesmaid.

I would def make the 12 y/o a jrBM. My FI's daughter is going to be 9 and she's going to be our jrBM. Tho that's bc I have a neice who will be 3 and she's going to be our FG.

I honestly don't think there need to be any age limits on such things. just as there should be no 'gender' requirements to be a best man/woman, or maid/man of honor. Do whatever makes you happy and who cares about 'the rules', whatever they may be anyway.

That's kind of what I had been thinking, sometimes you have to make exceptions, and do what will work. A friend of mine had his father as best man. And a cousin of mine had his sister as best woman. But now I really don't know what do to! On the one hand, I don't want her to end up feeling silly, as if she is too 'big' to be a flower girl. She really seems excited to be a flower girl, but I don't want that to change. It would be easy to just put her in as a Jr. BM, but on the other hand, I was already having problems with FSIL being annoyed because I didn't ask her to be a bridesmaid. I can only imagine what would happen if I started including more girls, whether Jr BMs or regular BMs, FSIL would wage an all out war on me LOL!! Maybe,I can make her feel a little older by letting the little girls wear the flower girl dresses, and let her wear an older dress? But I guess I have a little more thinking on the matter. Thanks for all your imput, it's helping!

My flower girl will (probably) be 11, but she really wants to do it and we really want her to be our flower girl. I would say do whatever you want.

My 7 year old niece will be a 'flower girl' but she is wearing more of a 'junior bridesmaid' dress.

AT THE AGE OF 12 I WOULD MAKE HER A JR BRIDESMAID, MY FLOWERGIRL IS GOING TO BE 8 AND MY JR BRIDESMAID WILL BE 13....

I think 10 and up should be jr BM not a flower girl. my 4 FG ages were 3, 3, 6 and 8. and I thought the 8 was pushing it- she is tall- if the 12 yr old is on the small size you can prob get away with it but at age 12 I think is too old for FG but you know its your wedding so really its up to you.

All the books say 3-8. Younger than 3, they might not walk down the aisle, older than 8 they think it is too babyish. My FG will be 9, and just two months shy of her 10th b-day. She however is just dying to be a FG and is driving her mother crazy waiting for the big day. Everyday she practices how to 'toss' the flower petals.
