I am having 4 flower girls. Two from my side, and two from my FH's side. My cousins will be 6 and 8. My FH niece's will be 9 and 12. Is 12 too old to be a flower girl? If so, any ideas on where to include her? I want to have her in my wedding party somehow. Thanks.

I think it is borderline-why not have her be a jr. bridesmaid

I think she is more in the junior bridesmaid category. The youngest girls in my party are 6 and 7 and I am making them juniors.

I think she would like to be a jr. bm. it would make her feel special that she is with the grown ups.

My neice is 10 and we're making her a Jr. BM, she was also a Jr. BM for my brother's wedding 2 years ago!!
I guess the cut off age between FG and Jr. BM would be around 9-10

Re: How old is too old to be a flower girl?
My goddaughter is 11 and has been wanting to be my FG since she was 4 (long before I planned on getting married). Anyway, I always told her, no matter how old she was, she could be the FG. When I got engaged I ask her if she wanted the title of FG or Jr. BM and she picked FG. When we went to get her a dress and accessories she changed her mind and is now officially the Jr. BM, but I won't have a FG (even though we have several little girls in the family) b/c I don't want her to feel slighted.

Re: How old is too old to be a flower girl?
After reading what you all had to say, I started to think that 12 is too old to be a flower girl. So I asked her what she would prefer? I had the entent to make her a Jr. BM, if she would like. But to my surprise she said that she would like to be a flower girl with the other girls. But asked if maybe she could walk down ahead of the three walking down together, to make her the head flower girl, and to show that's she's the oldest. I'm sooo happy that she is so helpful and easy going, what a good kid! One more potentially stressful moment avoided!

My ring bearer will be 3 months shy of being 10 years old. I've been promised him the role six years ago and won't go back on my word It's your wedding and go with what your heart feels is right!

If it were me I'd make her a Junior Bridesmaid. My FI's neice is going to be 10 yrs old and I'm going to have her as a junior bridesmaid.

Good questions. My cousin will be 15...does that make her Junior BM or a regular BM?

I am calling my 12 and 14 year old nieces bridesmaids because they already were Jr. BMs once before. It is just a title.

I definitely think a BM. I would of felt stupid being a junior BM at 15.

My niece is 11 and she is my Jr. BM. I personally felt she was too old to be a flowergirl. Thats partly because she thinks shes 21 already.

JMHO: Yes, that's too old to be a flower girl.
I have my 10 y/o cousin in my wedding, and thought she was too old to be a flower girl and I'm having her be my Jr. BM

Wow! I must ne really off. I thought a flower girl was usually 4-6. I even thought my 7 year-old cousin was too old. But I really didn't want to have kids anyway.

That is so sweet that the 12 year old wants to be a flower girl...kids grow up so fast. I'm surprised that she didn't jump on the chance to be a jr. bridesmaid!
