How secure do you feel at your job?

I am feeling insecure for the first time. They downsized from like 150 to 90 while DH and I were on our honeymoon and 5 more people are leaving this friday...

we are a project office so we are all aware that once the project is close to completion we could be sent back to our home office but if your home office has no work for you, you may be laid off.

I can't help worrying since DH and I wanna have soon.

To answer you question...I feel very secure about my job. I work for an awesome attorney, that has a lot of cases and I'm his only paralegal...so I pretty much run this office.

That really stinks about what's happening at your company - hopefuly things stabalize!

For me, I feel pretty secure. We've grown about 300% since I started 3 years ago and we're going to continue doing so. Plus I've been here for so many years, that I've grown pretty comfortable here. If it doesn't work out, because of the industry I'm in, I'm not too worried (hoping I don't jinx myself) that I'd find something else quickly.

anney, have you tried looking for a new job or considered looking for me considering the situation?

Aww that's great for you and I support the project managers as well as the staff as office manager. Everyone (including my boss) says that I'll be one of the last ones to leave but I'm a chronic worry wart.

I work for my parent's company, so I feel pretty secure in my job but I am going to look for a job in my field once we return from our HM, and I am determined to have something by March 1st. Then things get scary...I've never had a 'real' job at a firm (besides like silly college jobs and internships.)

I have been kinda but

1: the kind of jobs that I'm interested in pay less than what I'm getting now since I'll be starting with no experience. These are all jobs that will allow me to be more creative

2: like people say, the job market seems to SUCK right now

3: I'd hate to feel like I'm abandoning my bosses etc.

4: I'd hate to get a new job than get prgnant KWIM?

eta: i'll be hitting 5 years with the company in september and you get some more perks such as vaca time, etc...the company is actually very good and i wouldn't mind moving up in it but it's hard to since it's an engineering/architectural company and my background is English

I'm just a temp (bc I can't find anything perm at the moment) so I don't feel secure at all. It's very frustrating because I could come into work tomorrow and they can easily announce that it's my last day. This job market is God awful!

ugh, i hate that about this office...they will literally tell you one day that it's your last I have too many shoes here

in all seriousness tho, my boss has told some people ahead of time but some people will literally have to pack there stuff up in one day.
