How to pick the right Sandals Resort

How to pick the right Sandals Resort

My FH and I settled on a HM in Jamaica because it was less expensive then St. Lucia and we could stay about 10days opposed to 7. But there are so many different sandals resorts on the island of Jamaica how do we know which one to choose?

If I were doing Sandals and I was doing Jamaica I would definitely only do the new Whitehouse. Otherwise, I would do Couples. In case you haven't been working with a TA, I LOVE mine so much, she helped me tremendously when I was looking into mine - definitely worth a try! Hayley from Beach Bum Vacation . Good luck! FM me if yu have any

I stayed at Dunns River in Jamaica. One of the things I would definately think about is which side of the island you want to be on. Negril was on the other side and supposively had outrageous sunsets. It was a little too close to airport for me. Dunns River was beautiful and we watched the sunset over the mountains but it is about an hour drive from the airport. I agree with somethingblu and would stay at the Whitehouse but I don't know when it opens.

Sandals Whitehouse or if you are worried that it won't be ready since they are only opening in Feb., I would do Negril. My cousin is a Sandals travel agent and she has been to ALL of them in Jamaica. She said that Negril was the nicest one, most romantic and designed for the honeymoon. We were staying there until the Whitehouse had there 50% off sale.
I hope that helps!

We went to Couples Swept Away in Negril, which was AMAZING! Definitely check out the Couples resorts--they are also all-inclusive. Negril really isn't too near the airport in Montego Bay at all--same amount as Ocho Rios--about 1 1/2-2 hour drive...Not bad at all...

Negril was 1 1/2 ride from the airport as well. The airport is in Montego Bay, almost in the center of Jamaica, and Dunns River and Negril are on the opposite sides of the island.

Thanks everybody for all the feedback!

I know my FH said he wants something that is not too crowed and no long lines ( we went on a cruise last year and he was freaking out about all the long lines everywhere). We both agreed that we want to just chill on the beach.

Opps... Shows you how well I know my geography... I just remembered that one was near the airport.

If going to Jamaica, I have actually read much better reviews on Couples than Sandals. Apparently, lots of activities are included at Couples (excursions to Dunns Rivers Falls, Scuba Diving, sight-seeing, etc) and Sandals makes you pay for the same thing - plus it's more expensive to stay at Sandals! I would def look into that. Good luck!

It's true! We went to Couples--absolutely amazing! And excursions, scuba diving, snorkeling, etc. included!

Here are a few of our HM pics

We picked the Grande Ocho Rios because of the room catergories. We're staying in the Romeo and Juliet Room (private pool and jucuzzi in room). and we booked it during the 40% of sale. The Ocho Rios one was recently renovated this year so I hope it's really nice. We looked at the new one I think the WhiteHall but we really liked the room category and layout of the Ocho Rios one. My travel agent was Jennifer through tropical travelers. She gave us a great deal on our hotel and flight.

I don't think you can go wrong with anyone of them though. Good LUck.

We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay and loved it. But we did do a day trip to Negril and liked that resort a lot better! The beach was nicer, the pool was nicer........and the sunsets are outrageous in Negril. Do Sandals Negril, you won't regret it! I have a lot of pictures from the Negril resort. Try looking at tripadvisor.com. It has lots of reviews from people who've stayed at the different resort. It might give you a better idea. Plus there are forums you can post on. I had a few questions and the people there knew a lot.

My husband and I got back from Sandals Halcyon on St. Lucia a couple weeks ago and we loved it. There are three on St. Lucia but each is unique. I am sure the same is true for Jamaica, since there are several there.

We think next time around that we might try Sandals Negril.
