How were you proposed to?

I am sure that this has been done before, but It is fun to read!

Fh proposed to me at the top of the lighthouse in Montauk.

While we were walking along the beach with our feet in the water, at sunset in Aruba

Fi had been talking about a particular bakery that his mom always bought him cakes from. For weeks he had been talking about this bakery. So one day he calls me at work and tells me he went to this bakery and ordered himself a cake. I didnt think anything of it because he had been talking about it for weeks. So on Friday Sept 13 he calls me at work and tells me he picked up the cake and would wait for me to get home so we could have it together. I joked with him and said, 'so what did you get 'Liss hands off' 'Brians cake do not touch'' he laughed and told me yes. I laughed again thinking nothing of it.

I got home from work at around 6 (it was also his aunts birthday and his cousin who was in on it wanted to celebrate our engagement so she asked me to join her and her family along with Brian to a night out at one of our favorite bars. I called Brian and since he and Jessica were in on this he said absolutly no problem sounds like fun) and at about 6:30 he said so cut up a piece of cake so we can go out.

I go into the kitchen and on the top shelf there was this HUGE cake. So I take it out of the fridge, cut the strings and tape and open the box and on the cake it said 'WILL YOU MARRY ME' with the box and the ring after 'me'

I looked at the cake, looked at him, looked at the cake, looked at him and said 'I think they gave you the wrong cake' he smiled and I just screamed. I didnt say yes, I just screamed. I hugged him, then called my best friend. He stood with a plate, a knife and fork and asked me so are you gonna cut the cake or what??

He surprised me with a trip to St. Martin last July and while we were there we went on a day trip to St. Barts. He asked me to take a walk along the beach and on our way back he told me to close my eyes and he got down on one knee and proposed. It was soo romantic and the best part was that it was a surprise!!! I had no clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My FH got me good! I kinda' had a feeling it would happen during our trip to Martha's Vineyard with our friends. I figured I would have more of an idea when because he would take me out to dinner or some place where I would have to 'get ready'. On our first day there, Kevin (my FH) and Steve (our friend) said they wanted to check out the beach after dinner. I though nothing of it since I was just as anxious to check it out. We were strolling along during the sunset and Steve started to take pics of us. Again, I thought nothing of it. (I was scrubbed out and Kevin wouldn't dare propse to me looking like that. ) I was joking around with Steve when I heard Kevin ask 'Hey A****i, can I ask you something?' I turned around to find him on his knee. I thought he was screwing with me, so I started laughing and yelling 'Get up!', 'Shut up!' until I noticed the sparkly rock in his hand. I gasped and said 'Yes!!!!'

It was Valentines Day and we had reservations to go to dinner. However, he got very sick at work and had to be driven out to my house from Manhatten. We cancelled our reservations and neither of us had any dinner. We were sitting on my couch in PJ's and I gave him his v-day gifts and he then reached into his pocket and said 'I was hoping for better circumstances but..... (as he got up enough strength to get off the couch to get on his knee) will you marry me? (This was actually the second time he asked me)

The first time we were in the Poconos in the pool in our room and he asked me if I would be his wife. I said yes but he said I didn't get a ring yet. So I knew the ring would come howere I didn't know when.

Stephanie - yours was very romantic. Being the lighthouse lover I am it sounds perfect!

Mine was not that romantic, but you have to know my FH to appreciate it.


For the 4 years that we had been together at that point FH had been telling me that you cannot plan things and you have to go with things, that included our weekend plans. So when he called me on a Tuesday to ask me to check the ferry schdedule for next Saturday, I knew something was up.

All this time I had been joking with my students that if he does not ask me to marry him by the end of school that was it, that I was going to be an old maid and give up. One girl even offered me a fake engagement ring to make him jealous.

Well, Saturday came, it was cloudy over cast and about to rain. I refused to get on the ferry. So he proposed over lunch in a restaurant in Port Jefferson. I never got will you marry me-- instead a good old TAH DAH. That was it June 23rd the day after school ended.

The thing I found out afterwards was that he had tried several other ways and plans always fell through. Poor guy!

John wanted to film ours by asking a stranger on the beach to film it but I refused to take the video camera out of the room

Well after this story one might wonder why he still proposed LOL
My bday was 12/13 and he kept saying lets go see the tree and i was like 'NO way i hate the city to begin with and its going to be so crowded on a friday two weeks before xmas!' So he dropped that and tried to get me to go on thursday the night before and i was still like NO WAY i hate the city plus I have class and it will be late when we get there and so on and so on. So the weekend before this was turing in to a major fight( why couldnt i just go b/c he really wanted to see the tree, BLAH BLAH BLAH) so on sunday 12/8 he was going to the ranger game, before he left he said lets go to dinner when i get back and stop fighting so i said fine. he picks me up and i ask him where we are going to eat ( he was driving towards the city and i live in bayside, there are tons of places to eat in Bayside) He kept saying we are going where I WANT TO GO!!! so stupid me doesnt realize what were doing until we are at the 59th street bridge. i still had no idea just thought he was trying to prove it was not so bad going to the city.At this point i was laughing b/c i couldnt belive he kidnapped me just to see the tree in rockafellar center!!
So we get ther and we are looking at the tree and he says' through all this fighting did you ever think i wanted to bring you here to ask you sonmething?' i said No i never did why? And he took the ring from his pockert and asked me to marry him!!! As he likes to tell the story I cried for two minutes and giggled the whole way home!! I didnt say yes for quite a while !! :)
I felt so horrible after i realized that he was trying to make our enagagemnt special and i had to be such a pain in the ASS!!
