So friend of mine from FL just called to say he'll be proposing to his gf soon. Very happy for him cause he's finally found the happiness he deserves. Here's the interesting catch......they were up here about 2 weeks ago and just happened to start looking at possible venues. Can you guess which place they fell in love with? Mine! Both him and his gf are from LI and all of their family is up here. And to make things even more interesting....they will probably set their date 2 to 3 months prior to mine because a lot of his family leaves to go to Europe for 6 months and he wants to have the wedding before they go. Then he tells me he probably won't be able to go to my wedding since it will be an issue of the money to come back or the time off from work. So when they found out I booked Riverview she told him to ask me if it was ok. I can think of maybe 2 people that would go to both weddings so that's not an issue. Plus, i can see the place in action and if I see anything that I don't like I can be sure to straighten it out before my wedding. At the same it kinda ***** because we don't know anyone that has had a wedding here and we wanted to be the only ones.....wanted it to be our place. Not really sure how I should feel. Would never tell him to change his RH (he wouldn't anyway) but at the same time I'm a little sad.
How would you feel?

Sorry to say this but that really s u c k s It's like he completely copied your plans and is placing them in front of yours and then he cannot come to your wedding? That would really upset me!

I would feel a little put off by it. Kind of like my friend was 'stealing my thunder' I completely understand how you feel. but you're wedding will be EXTRA EXTRA incredible and awesome because like you said if you see anything you don't like you get to fix it. Your wedding will be completely different... Different theme, different decorations... etc, etc. No worries you'll have the best dang wedding riverview has ever seen!!

LOL exactly. No one will top it Thanks for the smile. Definitely feeling a little bit like my thunders being stolen, but he did look 2 weeks before I did.....though I had no idea. He told me they were doing a backyard wedding. To be honest, If the situation were reversed and he had put down the deposit and everything, I think I'd probably find another location.........I say that, but FH would probably knock me out if I even suggested it. He's in LOVE with the Riverview. Haven't seen him this excited about a location since we went to Disney. I'm sure it will be fine.....just really like weird about it I guess.

I would absolutely be upset. It's one thing for them to share the same venue, but they are having it before you! I think there is nothing wrong with expressing that you are disappointed in their arrangements because it takes away from your experience a bit.
On the upside - at least you can see what needs to be improved based on their wedding!

Yeah, that really shocked me. I understand that work may be an issue, but I'm giving him almost 2 years to make arrangements. I already have my STDs.....think I'm going to send them to the people that would be invited to both weddings so they know. It's so funny, FH was making fun of me for booking the RH now when we have almost 2 years to go. Now I'm glad I did.

Re: How would you feel?
Hey girl....I got engaged three weeks b4 my brother did and booked my RH first for an awesome price! They always liked my RH so when I booked it, I asked what dates they had available for my brother. I thought it was the right thing to do and he to will be married 9 months before me at the same RH. I feel like I can see the place in action before my big day and catch any glitches that may happen b4 my day comes. Think of it this way...you have great taste and people know it....don't be sad...your day is your day no matter what RH you book!

Re: How would you feel?
i'm sorry sweety . i honestly would be super mad/upset & disappointed. i would actually steer them towards a different place. might sound mean, but i'm sorry.
however, i agree with you 100% that you'll get to see 1st hand how a wedding there will be. Plus, your wedding is YOUR wedding. It will be different than theirs (and much better i'm sure )

Re: How would you feel?
if it were me i'd be upset as well. i would also get the word out to the few people who may attend both weddings about my venue just so they can see that it was my idea first! lol. But all jokes aside, u will have a gorgeous day never the less and in time the disappointment will go away.
