A very good friend, that u invited to your wedding was not going to come because She said she couldnt afford to give me a gift???
I told her I just wanted her and her husband there!! And that I didnt care about a Gift!!!...I was sooo disappointed because I was one of her BM at her wedding

LOVE the suggestion of asking her to help out w/ programs/ menus etc... that is worth more than any monetary gift

I'd ask her once more and then respect her wishes. She probably feels horrible each time it's mentioned

Did she admit that to you? If money is the reason, and honestly with today's economy and job problems it very well could be her reason, then I would tell her that you really appreciate her honestly, because that takes guts to admit and tell her that her presence at the wedding is all you want. I am sure she is embarrassed about this too. tell her that you totally understand and that money should never come between friends sharing special days with one other. In the end, though, this must be her choice.
