How would you feel if no one threw you a shower?

I have had two kids and my bestfriend(godmother of both babies) nor mother on either side ever threw me a shower and when it was suggested to my FMIL she said not to bother she would just buy my first baby everything and besides I have no family really or close friends(needless to say I have both). This leads me to believe that getting a wedding shower from the same people will be a shot in the dark. Believe me not that Im even looking for the gifts because that's the furthest thing from my mind but I kinda feel it's part of being a bride. Has anyone ever had this happen?

i agree with you, it's part of being the bride. i think you should let them know you want one, be honest

I would be really bummed.
Its almost a rite of passage.
I hope someone throws you some kind of bridal shower.

dont worry! im sure someone will throw one! doesnt your FH know that you are supposed to have one??

I am not close with my mother, and my nana had passed away. So if it wasnt for my DH and best friend I would not have had one!

Be honest and tell them you would really like to have one, even if it is small.

Definitely say something to your FH!! You deserve one, even if it is something small with just your closest friends. But definitely bring it up!!!

i agree i would tell your dh that you would like a shower even if its a small. i would hope that someone would be thoughful enough to do. i already know that when my friend elaine gets married i will have to throw her a shower she doesnt have any close female family members.

in all honesty, i would feel like crap. as it was, i didn't think i was really going to get a shower b/c from what i had heard, everyone thought someone else was going to do it until one of my bridesmaids said, hey, i will do it!!! if i didn't get one, i think i would have been really hurt. REALLY HURT!

I get very nervous and uncomfortable being the center of attention for too long and told my MOH and MOB that I didn't need to have one, it would save me from an anxiety attack. But I agree that is feels almost like a right of passage and maybe you should talk to them about having one, even if it is in someone's home.

Thanks sooooooooo much for understanding. I thought I was being silly and selfish. I've mentioned it my FH but ya know --He's a man! See my MOH is my bestfriend and she doesn't like any of my other friends who since I've had my kids I don't see much of them anywho. I gave plenty of hints but I feel like everyone feels Im not doing it. It's sad but I'd even be willing to pay for it just to say I had one. I actually came out and told my bestfriend when I was pregnant how upset I was that I wasn't getting a shower and her response was those people are sooo @#$% up! Then when my second son was born I mentioned it to her that I really wanted a shower and I was hurt that I didn't get one for the first one but I did hear how my mother in law threw a great big one for my FH ex when she had their daughter and again my bestfriend who is the godmother to my kids said that's @#$% up what's wrong with them! Hello
