We have been having problems that were affecting our relationship and my feelings about us. I don't feel like getting into too many details right now. The last straw came a couple of weeks ago, I gave him back the ring (not the first time I had done that) and gave my self breathing space for a couple of weeks. During that time, he has been trying to work on the things that have been hurting us, listening to self-help tapes, taking notes on them to start to change some of his behaviors. I totally appreciate it, but right now I am so damaged and hurt from everything that I need time to be myself again. What hurts me the most is that I know he loves me with all he has got and this is really hurting him right now.

Part of me feels relieved and part of me thinks back to the good times and the special ways we had in our relationship which makes this totally s*ck.

Although my wedding was planned for December, at this point the only thing I had booked was the hall. We got a church, but the final paperwork was not sent in to fianlize everything. I guess deep down, in my subconscious I kinda knew. My enthusiasm for planning the wedding was very back and forth. As the day got closer I began to see it as a huge stress more than an excitement because I had taken so long to get on with my planning.

I don't plan on leaving the boards at this point, I'll just see how it goes.

so sorry you are going through all of this! i hope you can figure things out for yourself and figure out what you need to be truly happy! never settle!

OMG, I'm so sorry to hera about everything you are going through. However if you the two of you are having problems, doubts, etc it is better to work them out now and push back or cancel a wedding. If it is meant to be then everything will work itself out,.

You're a very strong person and should be proud of yourself. If it is meant to be it will be, but had you jumped into it not being sure and feeling this way it would have been a HUGE mistake. Its hard to think with your head, over your heart. It takes a very brave person to do what you did. Keep on thinking with your head, and it will all work out. My mom once told me, stop and think because the heart can cloud your judgement sometimes; if its the advice you would give a friend then its probably good advice and the right thing to do. I've returned the ring once in a fit of rage (he made a very insulting remark that pretty much threw offense to our entire 6+ yr relationship). We talked it over and worked it out, and his POV really has changed since then. This was about 4 mos into the engagement. At the same time, it's also good to realize certain things before you make the commitment into marriage, for better and worse.

It's important to find yourself no matter what relationship you are in. You can't lose that. Good luck on your search and you know there are plenty of girls here when you need someone to talk to.

I have been through it myself...it is better to know now then after the wedding.

I give you major props....I think you are really courageous for having the guts to cancel your wedding to make sure this is the right thing...better now than later. I hope everything works out for you!
