Hurricane Isabelle---Please Please Say a Prayer For This weekend's brides!!!
Ladies, I am soooo UPSET. This hurricane is due in NY on Friday night, maybe Saturday. I am so scared vendors aren't going to make it, guests aren't going to make it, out of towners won't fly in and not to mention people hear hurricane and decide they won't come. I have been crying all day and even saw FI cry. 13 months of planning and now this!!! Why me? Why us? What were the chances I would be checking contracts for act of G-d clauses. I am sooo sad!!! Please Please pray for me.... It is so important to have all my loved ones there! I don't want to get married without them. And all that time and money that will be wasted? I am hysterical!!!!
Pray for us 9/19 and 9/20 and 9/21 ers!!!!

Re: Hurricane Isabelle---Please Please Say a Prayer
First .
Please try and stay calm, because nothing that happens from here on will be easier while you are upset. I know it's hard to do, believe me!!
Now...to try and ease you a little bit. Odds are, this hurricane will die down considerably by Friday and Saturday. It's supposed to lose strength as it comes toward land, and they don't even know if it will make it as far as NY before turning around back out to sea. So, your chances are still very good that it will have no effect. Try and stay postive.
Have you thought about contacting the hotels in the area to ask about availability as a contingency for people to stay over the night before if necessary? Maybe that will make it a bit easier? Maybe your parents can talk to the out of towners and see if they want to try and fly earlier and stay at your house even? You could have the worlds first slumber wedding!
Please try to stay calm! We're here for you!!
And here's a for good wishes!!!

My prayers are definately with you. Please try and not lose sight of what it all means. I know that is definately easier said than done. Lord knows I'd be feeling just like you do in this situation. But you have to just hope for the best. Your vendors are professionals, they'll show up!!! You're going to have a fantastic day, hurricane or no hurricane.

Re: Hurricane Isabelle---Please Please Say a Prayer
thanks ladies, but it is STILL category 5!!! That is the highest possible! Who will come out for me if it is category 5? I am worried about my grandparents and parents and us getting over there, let alone my guests. I am going to marry this man on Saturday Hurriane or not! I don't care if everyone says we shouldn't go out and what not. AHHHHH!!!!

sending my prayers to U but hopefully the weather men are wrong!!! They predicted bad weather for me and i had a gorgeuos day
Re: Hurricane Isabelle---Please Please Say a Prayer
I know its hard to think about this now...but I just saw on TV a story about a couple who had their wedding in the Virgin Islands when a hurricane came through and tore the island apart...the next day they went out and got married in the wreckage...
IF things do not go the way you have been planning...what about making a big picnic after the hurricane comes? at least to celebrate in some way?

Re: Hurricane Isabelle---Please Please Say a Prayer For This weekend's brides!!!
I am so broke from all the money put into this wedding already- all for this!!! I am so spent, emotionally and physically. I hope this is not a sign of things to come for us. Anyone would be crushed that I might not have anywhere close to a dream wedding and this category 5 hurricanes only happen in nightmares.

Re: Hurricane Isabelle---Please Please Say a Prayer
So far, I've been staying pretty calm about the whole thing. FH is more freaked...but that's because his first wedding was during a Hurricane/Tropical Storm Bertha.
FH is going to call the catering manager to see what the deal will be should a hurricane put a stop to our reception.
Right now we're just gearing up for the storm.

I am saying lots of prayers, my friend's wed is sat too. Maybe we should get together on thursday and do an anti-rain dance. Do you think it will help?

Hey Marissa -- Hey Jenn -- We've been doing the no hurricane dance over here. I'm starting to freak too. I told Rob that it serves us right because we're always the ones wishing for the hurricanes, blizzards, etc. Just not on my wedding!!! I'm addicted to the weather channel which is not giving me anything helpful anyway! We're also calling the catering manager tomorrow to find out what their contingency plan is. I know that they don't have a generator because they had to cancel our tasting the day of the blackout! Hang in there.

I wouldn't start freakin' just yet. Wait until Tuesday/Wednesday when they have more of an idea of the direction. (But for your own safety, you should start preparing for a hurricane.)
Maybe you should call your vendors to see what they would do in an event like this. Are most of your vendors paid already? Or just deposits? These are unusual circumstances and I can't see them not working with you on it.

Hey Lea!!!!
LOL! I think the reason why I'm not so freaked is because I love storms!
Kevin has had TWC on all day. I'm tired of hearing it. He's been bustin' his hump all day preparing for the thing.

to this weekend's brides.
I am the MOH for my best friend's 9/20 wedding ON FIRE ISLAND!!! She will be married in Sayville but the reception is in the Pines!
She has been so calm about the possibility of a hurricane. She keeps saying 'next weekend, we'll be married, and that's all that matters'.
I feel for you ladies. Try to stay positive, the only thing that can ruin your day is how YOU feel about it. If less people come, it will be more intimate, and your day will be even more special because those who are there made the extra effort.

I just keep thinking about the money and time for things people will never see. I can't imagine cancelling the wedding over the weather. What were the chances? I am scared that we will not be able to have the wedding that night and vendors won't come and we will have to do it the next morning alone, or worse, go on our hm not married and get married by the JOP. What should we do? When should we do it? What if the rabbi can't marry us that night?
