Ladies, I am soooo UPSET. This hurricane is due in NY on Friday night, maybe Saturday. I am so scared vendors aren't going to make it, guests aren't going to make it, out of towners won't fly in and not to mention people hear hurricane and decide they won't come. I have been crying all day and even saw FI cry. 13 months of planning and now this!!! Why me? Why us? What were the chances I would be checking contracts for act of G-d clauses. I am sooo sad!!! Please Please pray for me.... It is so important to have all my loved ones there! I don't want to get married without them. And all that time and money that will be wasted? I am hysterical!!!!
Pray for us 9/19 and 9/20 and 9/21 ers!!!!

I am coming to LI from FL on Saturday morning for my neice's christening, and I am still coming up. Your family and friends will be there to celebrate with you at all costs. I will be praying for all of this weekends brides!!

My wedding is this Saturday, too. And, I totally understand your feelings - my favorite aspect of the PJCC is the setting and the outdoor cocktail hour. I told my banquet manager I will cry if its not outside!
BUT. . . weather right now is 75 and sunny for Port Jeff!

Septbride, The country CLub will be fine!! It darn better be I get married there the week after you Your Day will be wonderful please don't stress yourself to much over it no matter what happens ,your getting maried and thats what counts

First, Have you looked into Wedding Insurance? There is at least one company that I know of that will cover your expenses in case of a situation like this. And I think you can still get it w/i 5 days of the affair. We thought about it b/c of iffy weather around Christmas, but decided to take our chances. Its also very reasonable considering what's at stake.
Second, All the weathermen that I saw last night predicted storms and effects from the hurricane, but we probably won't get hit with it. That means heavy rain & wind, but not not as bad as if we lived in North Carolina!
Your vendors will come, your catering hall will be ok & YOUR GUESTS WILL COME!!!!! You may have to worry a little about flaky people, but it should not be disaster!
Third, have you given your final headcount yet? If not, take at least 7 - 10 people off your list now. That way if you have no shows, you won't have to pay for them. We made arrangements with the hall to pay for anyone extra on the day of b/c 'in case a guest brings someone at the last minute.' We made up a few excuses. It worked out perfectly.
Chin up, sweetie. A lot can happen between now & Sat. Storms can fall apart in a few hours, and you never know where they're going to hit land. We may not even be affected by this in the long run!!!! fm me if you need anything!

thanks so much Christine and all you ladies out there for being so supportive during such a stressful time.
A lot of guests have called and said that they will be there in the worst of weather. I called the people I can't get married without- my FBIL and grandparents and told them to get an earlier flight. Maybe they can come in on Wednesday instead.
I haven't notified my vendors yet because I still expect everyone to show and we could miss the storm.... I am trying to think positively. If the eye of the hurricane misses us and is in Carolina or something, it will just be a bad rainstorm and everyone should show.
I have told myself one thing.... Regardless of what category this wedding falls in, I WILL marry this man this weekend even if I have to die trying!!! Like radiostar said, Stick A Fork in me , I'm done!!!
I am cashing in my chips this weekend.

My band just called with an emergency # in case of bad weather for Sat! I told them we will have a beautiful day! She said, well it looks like it will be raining pretty badly. . . nice way to keep up a bride's spirits before the big day, huh!

I'm right there with you! I am FREAKING out! The wedding is on Saturday, it's supposed to be outside ans so were the pictures. I just went yesterday and booked the Vanderbilt Mansion for indoor pictures. I really hope it doesnt knock out the electricty. We've been planning for 13 months also. I am so upset!

i have tried to stay away from this thread b/c i am getting married on Sunday! I know what you ladies are going through! It's hell the worrying and all these people calling and e-mailing you - hello?! I have a TV!
My friend got maried in a Noreaster 2 years ago and she had a fabulous day- I look to her for moral support and encouragement! Her wedding a beautiful despite the rain and she even got dressed again with her DH and re-took her photos outside! So, I am praying for my fellow weekend brides and refuse to let so B$^#%^ named Isabelle ruin my day!

Is there any way you can get wedding insurance still in case you decide to postpone it?
I really doubt it'll be bad. I remember times where we were supposed to get bad snow, and nothing really happened. It could miss us. Most of the time, the weathermen are wrong about the weather when it's 5 days away. It always changes.

one of my vendors already told me if it was very bad they wouldn't be there.... I know this, and it cognitvely makes sense, but it is such an important day and I only get one of these. It hurt my heart to hear that an important vendor might not be there.
If this wedding doesn't happen, I will need to be put into a psychiatric hospital- I am not kidding! Put my blood sweat and tears into this for 13 months and I am literally like, please please don't talk of wedding insurance in case 'the wedding doesn't happen.' I know you mean well, and I apprecaite that, but I don't want to hear that. I HAVE to get married.

someone just mentioned on the NWR board that it has changed course...and will hit NC and go inland into W VA and to the great Lakes...and will only hit NY as rain...
