Hyatt Garden City
Does anyone know what kind of shuttle they provide? If you book ten rooms you get a shuttle and I'm wondering if it's like a bus or if it's from a limo company. If nobody knows I'll call them later as well.

It's not something spectacular. Its like a van, not a limo.

Is this the hotel that's next to the Hampton Inn? We talked to them a few weeks ago and asked about a shuttle (we need a lot of rooms!) and they said they don't do them but could recommend someone to us. hmmm...

Re: Hyatt Garden City
They told me about the shuttle and it is a van. This hotel is recommended by my venue but now I think my venue have an agreement with the Viana. They are a little more but it is really nice there. They offer a shuttle but I'm not sure if its a van but you need 10 rooms booked

Yes I think they are next to them.
I emailed them and the shuttle is like a van type thing. Nothing fancy. You also need to have 10 rooms blocked with them.
Honestly, the hotel is really nice, the rooms and staff are great but the person who does the group sales is NOT good.
We checked the Viana too but they were booked up.

I agree the Hyatt is nice but the person doing the group sales is not the greatest.

Re: Hyatt Garden City
I wouldn't say they are awful, it's just hard getting in touch and I went twice for something when she was supposed to be there and wasn't. And yes I called beforehand but I'm thinking that was just a miscommunication between the front desk staff and her. Everyone is always very very polite and nice though so I wouldn't say don't block there. The other thing is that it doesn't seem like the block prices were that discounted, but I wasn't in charge of this part so I didn't research all that much beforehand hahah. Plus we have a room there and it is nice to have everyone else there too.

We got our room free from our venue and the place is nice but Jackie doesnt always get back to me. There are time when I can send an email and she will get back right away and there are times when I can send her an email and she doesnt get back with me at all.

i blocked 20 rooms with them for my wedding in February 2013. jackie, the sales person is horrible.. i asked her if i could have a late check out for one of my rooms because i did not want to switch rooms, she said she cannot and she raised her voice and was very rude to me.. i asked her for direction cards, for my guests and she said she ran out and told me to print it out myself.. first of all, who does that? in the end i already sent out information to my guests and couldn't really find a hotel last minute, so i ended up with hyatt garden city.. all i have to say is that the rooms sells itself, but jackie the sales person is just very unprofessional and i had a horrible experience. in the end, i ended up working with the GM of the hotel

what is the GM name? I would love to work with them. I asked Jackie questions sometime and at times she is accomendating and at times she's not. I dont ask questions all the time. I think i asked 2 this year. The first time she responded and the last time she didnt.

did you send her emails? i pretty much stopped working with her because i couldn't deal with the fact how she treated me.. besides that the hotel rooms are beautiful.. the GM's name is jennifer foti.. she probably had to work with me because i wrote a letter to hyatt corporate since the Assistant GM couldn't even help me..LOL.. i was in the hotel industry many years ago and honestly i am not the type of person who would write a letter to complain, but jackie was just horrible! she had no people skills what so ever.

Re: Hyatt Garden City
I am so shocked. I dealt with Jackie early on (last year) and she was SO great with us.The Hyatt required 10 rooms to be booked in order to get the shuttle. The rooms are reduced and include a continental breakfast. It wasn't bad really but my MIL had my BIL come with a bunch of goodies for us, bagels, muffins, juices, etc etc.
I stayed at the Hyatt the night before my wedding. Since our wedding happened after Hurricane Sandy, a lot of crew workers were staying there to help in the area after several weeks later.
I had about 6 girls stay with me, only 3 slept over. But, we literally were watching a movie and laughing and was told to lower our voice. They even had a rep from the hotel to tell us if they get another call, the police would be call.
I was a little annoyed by that. We were LAUGHING! LOL
The rooms are HUGE and really clean. I visited the Hyatt before I booked our room there. If the incident about the laughing didn't occur, I wouldn't have a bad thing to say.
However, I'd recommend checking out the hotel.

I thought the free breakfast was hot food. Is it just bagels?

Re: Hyatt Garden City
They have all sorts of juices, english muffins, bagels and toast. They have some fruit, and dry cereal. They have eggs, and ham on th english muffins.Depending how big your bridal party is, I'd suggest getting some more food and/or snacks. They have a mini fridge in the room as well.
But its not at all a large selection and it ran out fast before some of my bridal party came down. My MIL supplied a lot more food and we just stuck with that since we didn't have to go back downstairs.
Also make sure to tell them to keep the room available. I don't know if any of you thought of this but if you plan to stay there AFTER the wedding, make sure you tell them you want to KEEP the room because then they will clean it and give to another person as they do in all hotel rooms. I paid for the night before, told them I am getting married and want to keep the same room for when I return after the wedding is over.
I believe the checkout is at 11am. Its so worth it too!

This is exactly how it is with me too. The direction cards were the biggest problem.

How did you bring extra food and made sure no one else took the food? I have a hotel block and i think around 15 rooms have been booked. My wedding is on a holiday so some people are staying for the week. I want to make sure they get to eat the breakfast everyday. Also id they are staying for the week, are you saying they are going to change their rooms?
