So we went to Liberty today to explore, thinking Hyatt in Maui, 7nights.

Stop over to stretch and eat or straight thru flight?
Hyatt or diff hotel?

Re: Hyatt Maui

i've been a hawaii a few times and i always find it easiest to just take a direct flight. if this is for your HM, wouldn't you rather spend as much time as you can on the island instead of an airport?

it's a 10 hr flight, really not that bad if you bring reading material and snacks.

good luck deciding!

Re: Hyatt Maui

The hyatt in maui is the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at, I'd defintely choose there.

When we've gone to Hawaii, we took the commuter flight from NYC to Chicago, and then the 9 hour flight from Chicago to Maui. It broke up the trip a little bit, but we still had very little time we wasted waiting during our layover. The commuter flights operate at least one every hour, so it's easy to get home from Chicago to NYC.

There are no non-stops from New York or Newark to Maui. You will have to fly to Honolulu first. I believe the only nonstop to Honolulu is out of Newark.

I've never flow nonstop to Hawaii, but I have to tell you, I've never felt like the stop added so much time to my trip. I think for our HM we had an hour layover in Atlanta and the trip before that we had an hour and half in Phoenix.

I love the Hyatt in Maui! Especially if you're in the atrium tower - it's beautiful.
