Re: Hypoallergenic Dogs
I am allergic too and I want a big dog (like labs or a rottie). I am not a big poodle fan either.
I hear poodles, schnauzers and most terriers are hypo-allergenic. I think there are a few others. I think the soft coated wheaten terrier is kind of cute.
I think I have a site at home bookmarked that tells you which are..I can check for you tonight.
Anyone who is severely allergic - actually have one of these 'hypo-allegenic' dogs? I was wonder if you are really fine with a dog?

Beagles are very hard to train, and like they to rip apart the house!
I don't know if ****zu's are hypoallergenic, but I know that they do not shed, you have to just cut their hair.

Re: Hypoallergenic Dogs
My sister, is VERY allergic to dogs, and my aunt has a laso apso which they say is also hypoalergenic and shes allergic to my dog and that dog.. i think if you have allergies its probably best that you dont buy one right away.. you need to get used to it first.. I have an akita X and MAN if your allergic to dogs shes definatly not the type to get!

Re: Hypoallergenic Dogs
Thanks for the info Suzanne. Maybe I will have to babysit your poodle one day when I live nearby and check it out.
My parents have a rottie and I am definitely allergic to him. I have to take like 4 pills in one day to spend a day there and I pay for it the next day. I feel so crappy.

Re: Hypoallergenic Dogs
my husband is very allergic to just about every animal
i would rather a big dog, one we could bring to the park and play frisbee with
however i dont want to fence in our back yard so a big dog is out of the question i guess
thanks for all your help tho
what are those dogs that are black and i think called scottie dogs arent they terriers also?
ideally a medium dog - i REALLY wanted to get one from the pound or ASPCA to save a dogs life but my husband insists on a purebred

Neicy, Definatly!!! youll have to come by often just to get used to the dogs!! LOL
Hows the house hunting going? Theres really nothing on the market.. i found a house in Bellmore and the property was 50 X 216 thats HUGE.. the house wasnt big, it was only 3 bedrooms 1 1/2 bath i think.. it was 329K which wasnt bad but i called the real estate and they said it needed to be completely GUTTED!! and there was actually a bid on it!!
