So, I went to the school bookstore to buy FH his books for small semester. I saw the funniest bright blue pants that said 'QUEENS' on the butt. Of course, I had to have them for working out / sleeping. I had to go back to the rack and get a pair with a tag on it, fine whatever. Just pack the bag so I can go. I go to walk out the door and I hear 'beep beep beep'. Well, this really intelligent individual comes over and asks to seek my receipt..so I give it to him. Well, there were two pairs of pant in my bag and being a moron I said, 'I only bought one pair, take your pants and I will be on my way.' So the man starts yelling at me and telling me to settle down...this goes on and on. He yells accross the store that I tried to shoplift a pair of Large sweatpants. Oh no, he didn't!!! I start screaming...oh yes, my exact words, 'Did you call me fat? Do I look like I wear a large?' By this point, there were 5 of these morons blocking me from getting out of the store. I am yelling many a nice words still stuck on the fact that this man inferred I was fat.
I called my attorney and threatened to sue them for keeping me there against my will and harrassment...so they decided to let me go! Can you believe he called me fat??? Call me a thief, okay. Tell me I have bad hair, okay. BUT don't ever call me fat!!

If someone said that the size 39xx that was in my bag was me trying to steal I think I would just say I already have a pair of pants in my bag. The cashier must have put them in the bag on accident when I needed a tag. I don't wear that size anyway (if i felt the needed to throw a size factor in there which I doubt I would) By her screaming just made her make a scene and make her look guilty. I wear an XL in some things GOD IM HUGE!

Sorry, I have to agree with June262004 and the others, the way the post was worded, she really gave the impression that a size large would belong to a fat person. I had to reread the message over three times to be sure I was reading correctly.
JMHO! :)
BTW, I sometimes need to wear a large and I am NOT fat, just have a large bootie! :P

EXACTLY!! Thank you. I would never call anyone fat. I did not pick a fight with the man. If you were in the same situation you would have been pissed too.
I wear a medium. I wore large for awhile. I thought the man was infeering I needed the large because I purchased mediums and the morons behind the counter put the large (with security tag) in my bag.
For those of you that think I would actually shoplift...you don't know me and don't think you can judge me.
PS I worked in retail too. I think it was quite obvious that I did not shoplift the pants and the security people were detaining me for nothing. It's called self defense not guilt. But thanks for being judgemental anyways. NFT

Offended and insulted are two different things. Offend means to violate a moral law or rule. I don't think she did that!! She was insulted by the man who directed a comment AT her. You all are offended by a story about something that happened to someone else - that doesn't make any sense to me.

I was not offended of being accused of shoplifting because at least the security man was curious enough to see why the beeper was going off. He was doing his job. I have selective hearing, everyone tells me I do. And I admit it!! So I asked him if he was calling me fat!

But if the pants that got put into your bag by mistake was indeed a size large and that's what he said - I don't understand where he's calling you fat.
First, people that wear a large are not necessarily fat.
Second, some people like sweats to be larger so they are more comfy and they sometimes shrink.
Third, they could have been purchased for someone larger then you.
So, so what if he thought that's what you intended to buy? The guys was doing his job and the pants with the sensor happened to be a size large. Personally, I would have been more offended and actually embarrassed about being accused of shoplifting then needing a size large sweat pants.
I'm confused but glad you didn't go to jail.

And by the way the prison is in East Meadow not Hempstead and not near the mall. It is near East Meadow high.

OMG! I just read this MKM...for the first time and I FEEL for you! I cannot believe that any of you took this thread seriously...The girl was trying to tell her story of her day and add some humor to it..If you were one who thought she was serious about size L being fat...then PLEASE get out of the house more and learn to take a joke!
