So today was our official move in day...we spent all day moving shiz into the apartment and setting stuff up...there is stuff EVERYWHERE right now lol.
At the end of the day I went back to the house to grab some more things...I'm still not fully moved out yet as most of my clothes are at my parents' place, but as I was saying goodbye I got really upset because I realized I'm never going to live with my Mommy and Daddy ever again. I've lived in that house my entire life and now I'll never live there again. I held it together for my parents but when I got back to the apartment (which, btw is only across town from my parents) I started crying for real!! I felt so bad for FH...I really am happy to be living with him but I am so close to my parents...ugh I'm such a loser!! I'm 24 years old and I'm such a baby!!
no way - thats not loserish - its a big milestone of course you would get emotional over it...

Re: I am a loser
It's a big change. I lived with my parents until I was 22; they decided to move to FL and I wanted to stay here, so I got my own apartment. You're lucky - your parents are still close by and you're moving in with your FH! It's the best of both worlds for you It's totally natural and not loser-ish at all to cry. You're overwhelmed with moving (trust me, I know what it's like to move ), you're excited, you're scared, you're sad, you're ecstatic....I'm sure the crying was not just sadness, but an overwhelming amount of emotions. You've waited so long for FH to move to NY and now everything is falling into place. It's a lot to take care of, let alone the emotional factor of leaving your parents' house. You'll be fine!

Re: I am a loser
I moved to US at 24 too. left my parents and all my friends back in Israel I was sooooo sad to leave even though by that point I lived on my own for years. you are not a loser!!! It's very emotional leaving one chapter of your life behind and starting a totally new one. and I'm sure your FH totally understood that, making a big move himself just now

I think that's totally normal! I cried when I moved out of my own apartment where I had lived alone to move in with FH. It's a big transition and even while it's a happy one, you're also kinda saying goodbye to a part of your life that you won't get back. Definitely don't feel like a loser lol!

Re: I am a loser
You def aren't a loser! I moved into an apartment with FH just a week after I turned 20, and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. We're literally 5 minutes away and I think I was more worried about my parents than myself because my sister and I both don't live home anymore, but they are great and so are FH & I. I still see my parents all the time, and they love my apartment and I love going home and visiting them.
It will be hard for you at first but you're gonna love living with your FH, and with your parents so close, it will make things much easier! Hang in there!

You're not a loser...its a huge change. Especially, if you're close to your parents.

Re: I am a loser
You are too hard on yourself. It's a bit traumatizing esp when you're so close. But just know they will always be there for you... and you pretty much have an open door. It'll be fine...it's a bit of an adjustment, but its a great change.

Awww, you are not a loser! It's normal to miss them and feel that way. And just think...you can get used to this new change so that once the wedding comes you can relax on your honeymoon and not be as upset. I know some of my friends who would cry on their honeymoon's for the same reason. This way you are prepared and a little adjusted.

No your not a loser. I'm 26 and still live at home w/my mom. We've never moved so everythings been the same and never changed. Whenever i do move out i'm going to cry so much FH is gonna think that i'm crazy cuz he's more then ready to get out of his house.

Re: I am a loser
Not a loser at all!!!!!!!!
I was 24 when FH and I got our first apartment. I didn't cry moving out of the house. But I DID cry when my father SOLD the house a month after I moved out.
The day he moved out, I made one last trip back there after we got my dad set up in his new place. I sat on the living room floor, with FH, nothing in the house, and just started balling. FH couldn't understand why I was so upset, since we had already moved out and I hadn't been living there for a month. But it was because now I could never go back. Someone else would be living there the next day. It was terrible. Oh and I cried when I gave my dad the keys to the house too.
So at least you can still go back there. For me, I drive past it and wonder what the new owners did with my old bedroom

That is totally normal! You aren't a loser at all. Don't worry, I did the same exact thing when I moved out with my FH. I cried for days lol. Its a big change, it will take some getting used to. But eventually you will love being away from home!

Re: I am a loser
I live with my parents until I was about 23. We are so close and i had an apartment in their house so if i didnt want to see them i didnt have to. There is nothing wrong with crying. When my parents decided to move to FL I cried becasue i knew i didnt want to go but that would mean being seperated from them. Its totally normal and it gets easier.
Just think of it this way...you can go and visit any time you want then when they get on your nerves you have somewhere to go and a man to go home to
