congrats!

I got engaged in 2001 . I had 115 people at my engagement party. My family all met his family and it was great we all had a great time. My wedding is in 2003. We are waiting 2 years but time flys fast.

I was mean to my FI right before he proposed, too!!! I get really nasty when I am super hungry. We went into the city on Christmas Eve and we had been walking around for a while and were looking for someplace to eat. He was driving me crazy asking me what kind of place I wanted to eat at, where I wanted to eat, etc and I my stomach was growling sooo loudly! Finally I just started yelling at him and telling him that I didn't give a you-know-what where we ate as long as we did it quickly. He was being such a freak and all I wanted was to sit and eat. Well, apparently he was really nervous becuase he had the ring and was trying to decide where exactly he was going to pop the question. After we ate he proposed. We joke around about it all the time. I am glad he didn't change his mind after my little episode! Anyway, we are getting married in July 2003 and we are going to have an engagement party this summer. Still haven;t worked out all of the details. You should probably wait until about a year before your wedding. But no later than six months before the big day. Becky

Engagement

We decided on having an engagement party this summer. FH's mom is having her retirement party in May so after that we are going to hold our party. I keep hearing time flies when you are planning (from previous brides) although from others, I am getting feedback that we are waiting too long. I am already getting annoyed on others opinions. How do I control myself and not respond in a negative way?

Engagement

Hi: I'm in the same boat as you. My FH and I got engaged in Feb 2002 and we are not getting married till May 2004. We sometimes get funny faces when we tell people the date, but WHO CARES??? My FH was a little self concious about it and I told him not to worry, that WE know what us best for us. We are waiting because I have to graduate law school next year, take the bar and get a job. I want to be settled into my career before we get married. We are doing things the right way! We're not going to rush things to please other people. Our families totally agree with us, it's mostly strangers who give us funny faces. I could care less what they think. As for registering, we're not going to do it till next year. Marcela, you are 100% right on the mark!

No matter what you hear, you cannot prepare yourself for the horror of studying for, taking and waiting for the results of the bar! You will not have it in you to deal with anything else for several months. Especially if after all of that, you are looking for a job as well. Yuck.

Engagement

I did pick the hall we actually booked last night-Chateau Briand. People are already booking for 2005! The first date that we wanted was booked within 2 wks. There definitely are a lot of bride to be's out there. Have fun planning and best wishes to you all!
