I just got engaged 2 weeks ago and been so dreamy all this time. Now everyone tells me to start planning if I want to pull it off next September. I've been reading all your posts and all of you seem so nice and helpfull. So what is the first wedding related thing you did after you got engaged?

Relax, enjoy it another week or two. Then book your hall, church if you plan on getting married in one, photographer, and DJ/band. Then you can relax for a while again.
But definitely find the photographer - they good ones go fast!

I am an expection to the waiting rule. I am also getting married next Sept. We were engaged a week and we had already booked the church, hall, had purchased unity candle and started buying gifts for BP. By the time we were engaged a month, we had also booked the photographer, videographer, limo and DJ.

I got engaged Feb 22nd...and am getting married September 3rd, 2004. Late last month we booked the hall (we're getting married there also), band & photographer.
I would relax for a little...but then try to tackle the 3 major things - especially if you like someone/something in particular...things are booking up quickly!!

Congrats! The first thing I did (after the 200 phone calls) was relax!
Then I bought a location magazine and started visiting halls...that took me 2 months!
Then we booked the photographer, florist and officiant and I've been relaxing since then. Its time to start working again!

Thanks everyone! It's already been hectic keeping track of who we need to tell we are engaged and who we already told. I can't wait to start the planning though. Theresa, I live in Brooklyn but we a looking to have a wedding on LI. City is also a possibility.
Chippatrid, I put Sept 18, because it would not let me register without a date, but we like September so maybe we'll have same date
