I am flipping out a little about my wedding mass

My parish used to have many priests but now there are only a few ( as I am sure many parishes are experiencing these days)...well the problem is that I cannot find a priest to say our mass. The two that we wanted will be on vacation and that leaves the Pastor who I would prefer not to have And now we don't have anyone.

Another option is one of the Deacons but they cannot say a mass and only can perform a ceremony...which I really don't want

I'm so sorry to hear that!! Do both of you go to the same church? If not can you have a priest from the other church say mass?

We've had alot of church related problems, which in my opinion are the most stressful b/c the mass/ceremony is the most important part of the whole wedding since it is the purpose of the event.

Alot of churches are having those problems - ours too.

Let us know what happens!

i am sorry - that stinks!!

one option - if you are not comfortable with the deacon marrying you - you can use a priest from an outside parish.

that is what i am doing - FH has a family friend who is a priest and will be allowed to marry us in my church even though he is not a priest in my parish.

i know its hard - because most people only know the priest @ their parish.

Thanks girls....I am hoping that my friends uncle may be able to do it...keep your fingers crossed...because if he cannot do it..then I am really going to flip out

mmmmm..... if you can't use that person... you could call another parish rectory and make an appt to speak with another priest.. then see if you like him... and then have a visiting priest......
