I am going to kill fh

He tells me that this weekend we should look at these new condo's built in astoria, they should be open soon they were building them. I told him i heard they were charging alot but he said the real estate agent told him the prices are negotiable but the prices are so high even negotiating it won't help ...for these prices might as well buy a house rather than $500-700k for 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. Of course i continue to look at all the new Long island city and astoria apartments and lofts built some are 700k for one bedroom W**

and here are random pics of apartments in long island city and astoria. Many of these are about $800-1.6 million for apartments its getting insane. The prices are still high for these places, no matter how the market is although im sure there is room for negotiating but still lol...fh had no idea about the prices for the condos he wants to look at, i think he didnt want to believe what ive been telling him for a while and hoping it'd be lower

Those are gorgeous! You should talk to FH going to see stuff that is out of your price range is bitter sweet. They are fun to look at but it takes away from the ones that you are serious about. You tend to then compare what you see to what you saw in the ones that are priced over the top.

wow those are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! but damn can't believe its that much for an apartment...would you ever consider looking on li..there are some great prices out here for houses, especially in suffolk..but i know you work in the city so that may be too much with the commute and all

Yea, the apts are soo nice, but I'm in R.E. and the prices are crazy!! You might as well live in Manhattan. We're going to be living in LIC, but my parents own a house there, we'd never buy a condo there now.

well to fh's defense he didnt know the first listing i posted for a link to it on craigs list was so much. We have been seeing this building being built for a while and nobody has had any idea what they would look like on the inside. They are pistilli buildings so i had a feeling they'd be high plus all the rumors ive heard of how much they cost. He wasnt told prices but just that they are negotiable. Now this building does have 1 bedroom apartments from 259k-330k but the 259k ones i think are small, the 1 bedroom apartments are between 650 sq ft to 850 sqft so im guessing the 650 sq ft is the 259k range so he was thinking of negotiating from the 259k, but he didnt know how small they were...But who knows maybe with the market we can get lucky lol.

There were these other apartments just sold in astoria and they were 950k, his neighbor went to see them and told the real estate agent when they go down to 700k to let him know, well months later the agent called him and said they are at 700k now lol

they are beautiful places!....but sh!t they're pricey...that's why I have to leave NY, i swear!

lol well its actually right by where he lives now the one he wants to see and ive been waiting like 2 years to see this other condo just built 3 blocks from him well everybody in astoria has been waiting lol. They had open house this past weekend. I guess for us who grew up in astoria you still dont expect it but its the reality now.

yeah i already have a very long commute so it'd be hard. Plus with fh it'd be even harder since he has to drive to alot of the jobs he goes to, he doesnt have one constant place to go to everyday but he has to go to all the properties his company does so can be hard. In forest hills kew gardens they have those prices too but there are also TONS of great deals on condo's and co-ops so thats where we've been looking. I didnt even bother with astoria/lic bc i know what they are charging now. I checked the median price on zillow and other sites and for houses the median price was $950k

yeah many of the ones in LIC are right by the water, right where i took my e-pics by vernon and hunters point. The ones in astoria well one is on 21st, close to astoria park and another new one is on 45th street and ditmars boulevard and a few new ones are being built now.

I wonder if the hookers are still at hunters point

ITs funny bc fh's mom is born and raised in LIC and his dad lived there from the age of 10. The neighborhood now is NOTHING like it is now and for them its even more shocking to see what has become of it and to think how much ppl are paying. His mom had a view from her apartment as a kid of the pepsi cola sign, now her apartment would be worth so much.

As far as astoria its great bc fh's parents bought their home 30 years ago and you can imagine what they paid for it and now the average price for homes in his area are about 800-900 and she had it appraised and it is, so a pretty good profit lol.
