I get that a lot especially lately. Try and calm down. Have you had any caffeine today?

No caffeine ever.
This happened once before really bad and I ended up inthe ER all night. I had palpitations for 2 weeks after that. I went to a heart specialist and they did all kinds of tests and said my heart is fine and it is probably from stress.
I don't feel stressed today though. It comes at weird times.

Take deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth slowly.
I get them often too and doing this for a few minutes usually works.

Sorry to hear it , Julz!!
Definitely try to eat and drink someting (you could be weak and/or dehydrated.)
It actually sounds like it could be a panick attack .. I have gotten panic attacks once in a blue moon, the first time I was in the ER also .. it feels simply AWFUL, but physically nothing is wrong with you! And you can get panic attacks even when you are UNstressed and feeling fine, they hit at the strangest times. Internal stress works in very mysterious ways with people

Julie, that happens to me too (times when I don't even FEEL stressed, but I think it catches up to me at random times). Sometimes I have trouble feeling like I am getting enough air too...Are you feeling better?

I am feeling a little better now that I ate lunch.
BMD: I don't drink coffee or soda. I actually do eat chocolate though (forgot that has caffeine) but I haven't had any since monday.

It does sound like a panic attack. Take deep breaths if it happens again.. It has happened to me before too.

I have panic attacks and thats just what it sound slike, twice Ive been to the ER...Swearing up and down that I couldnt breath and my heart was doing weird things...tests done, nothing wrong....It would come out of NOWHERE...no stres...Id be watching TV and there it would be , talk to your Primary care DR about it, they can give you advice...Ive found just acknowledging that you are ok, this is just a bleep in your day makes it happen less...talk to your DR...

It definitely sounds like 'free floating' anxiety. They don't know why it happens, but it happens to alot of people our age. It happens to me in spurts. For MONTHS I'll be fine, then I'll go through a period for a month or two where I just have those same heart palpitations and sometimes I will feel like the walls are closing in. It goes away eventually. Deep breathing and meditation help, too.

Go to the ER again. And don't see that same doctor. I think you should get a 2nd opinion.

I used to get the same thing everytime I went to the Dr. to get blood taken... I have a seriously abnormal fear of blood. My heart would race like nuts, I would break out in a cold sweat, get light-headed, and then sometimes I just passed out... Dr. told me it's a lovely panic attack, and I went to biofeedback to learn how to control it... one thing I learned is that when you get a panic attack, often it comes hand in hand with a quick drop in blood sugar levels... next time it happens, get some OJ or something with sugar...now when I go to the Dr., I drink like 2 bottles of OJ just before, and it doesn't really happen anymore...
