I am losing my job

ok I was informed today my store is closing in a few weeks. I am somewhat upset and scared. Long story short, I have been there for 14 years. I started when I was 16 and just stayed with it. Well now it is closing up forever. I am somewhat scared because I don't know anything else. But I know I am also stuck. I do not want to go into retail again. (people can be sooooo CRUEL.)

I think after this I am going to take until January off. I have been working since I was 14 and need some time. I will be posting here probably for job help in a few months for job help and resume` assistance.

But in some sort of way I am happy. I have been getting so tired of it lately. I just will miss all the wonderulf friendships I have made. That is what hurts the most.

Thanks again ladies. I just read the newsday article. I will definitely be needing help. Like I said I am going to take some time off because I have been working for many years but I also have a wedding to pay for so I can't stay out of the work force so long. I can't thank you enough for all your support!!!

Very sorry
Try to enjoy your time off, take a little while without even ~looking~ for a new job if you can.
The stress of a company shutting down is so bad. You will need down time just to re-coup, make a promise to yourself with a start date to start looking, working on resume, etc. Then 'allow' yourself weeks/months off without even thinking about it!!! FH went through soemthing similar last year, he took 2 months prior to even looking, hey- how often do you get a long break like that. Plus NY state has a pretty good unemployement pay compared to most states.

We are here to keep you entertained until Jan!!!

It is NEVER easy to lose a job- even when you quit- BUT I will tell you that being laid-off was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was very emotional for me and very scary but I learned a lot about making a life a better balance between work and family. I also got a better job after the lay-off, and work for a much better boss.

Don't worry you will find a new, better job soon. And good for you for taking some time offi.

Jen things will work out. I believe things happen for a reason. There have been jobs I has passed up on, but later I find to be so happy I was not with that job.

Better things will come along.

I can't thank you enough ladies. I could not sleep last night because I keep thinking of paying off bills and also paying for wedding stuff. But at least I can always sell stuff on ebay.
