I am in process of doing my albums and before I do it I requested a CD from them....I wanted to see ALL my proofs in case they missed nice pictures...
Well they missed a bunch !!! I got 2 CDs from them with over 3,000 proofs on them!!! they only printed about 1000 for me....well, the pictures on the CD are gorgeous !! they missed many great shots....
My advice to all of you, make sure you see all of your pictures before you do your albums!!!

Some girls posted about this a few months ago and I just don't understand why they don't give you all the pictures from day 1.
AND you have to pay extra for the CD????????
My photog printed every single pic from our day (except maybe 5 that were blurry) and although it's a lot, i'm glad I have them all and none were held back.
I'm glad you got them before you did your album... but it seems like a lot of brides don't even know about the option of getting the CD until it's too late.

There was a post about this on BHB board. I believe they said the pics may not print correctly (due to resolution or quality I don't remember) which is why it didn't make the final cut. But I agree I like lots of pics from the originals too!

That was me who posted that :)
They now give you the cd (we didn't have to ask for it) but when I called to ask how I go about selecting photos that they didn't print for me for our album, they said that some of those photos might not have been printed for us because the resolution might not be as good. Of course, that didn't make too much sense to me because it's the same camera so I'm going to try to use some of those pictures anyway.

I knew I had heard about it before! :) I have 4 CDs of non printed proofs (I had an extra photog for some reason) and I still haven't gone through all of them yet.

OMG they must hate me now....they must have some many requests for the CDs today....LOL....
I didn't want to start anything but I was just mad at them to why they didn't print more pictures for me and that they didn't put all of them online for me.....
anyway, I think they are still great and do a great job but are very busy & popular and lose that artistic touch......All my friends & family love my proofs and compliment me how beautiful they are......so at the end I am still pretty happy with them!!!

ok, the thing that makes me really mad about this (and we didn't even use Duet!) is that it would be up to them and not YOU to decide what proofs are worth printing. I know it's a matter of what's in your contract, but some brides have no video and a picture that may not be 'high enough resolution' may be the only picture you have with a particular person or of some special moment. That should be at your discretion not THEIRS

Our contract says 750, so they printed 750 paper proofs, but we got 3 DVD s of pics of everything they photographed that day, just like the contract says. Thats why they give you the DVD of pics... so you can see all your pics.

I totally agree! I also used Patken and they just told me I have to wait 6 months to a year to get my cd (that I have to pay $100 for ).
yeah it is. did Patken tell you though - that you only can get the proofs on a cd when the ur album is completed or just 6 months to a year? Cuase I THINK my cousin who used Patken said I wouldnt get the proofs on a cd until after my album is IN. Then I think Vinnie [my photographer] said 6 months! Hmmm!?!?! What was it for you? And yes, it does cost money, but its sure worth it. Im soooo tired of scanning all my proofs. And to top it off the only 100 I scanned of my proofs, I scanned it at such a low resolution, so they came out crappy. The ones I enlarged, I rescanned to higher res.

A 'guarantee' to me is that you will get AT LEAST 750. To me, that isn't a maximum. Maybe i'm wrong...

Thanks for this info. I emailed Duet and requested my CD. My albums are done and I already have them, so hopefully there aren't too many pics that were great that I never saw.
Also, I just got my DVD and one thing was REALLY odd...in the highlights section Duet must have run out of song choices that I sent them, so they RANDOMALLY chose some weird religious song that I have never heard in my life! I am making them change this on 3 DVDS and 1 VHS tape. I can't believe how careless they were...nobody ever contacted me to say they needed a new song..they just stuck a random song in there that has no meaning to my DH and I

I guess what I have a problem with is not even knowing about the extra proofs..I can understand them printing a certain amount as long as you have the digital files of EVERYTHING, but it seems like not everyone had that chance. Now that I'm thinking about it, one of the reasons we chose our photographer over Duet was b/c of the digital proofs..Duet didn't have that yet when we were looking.

Wow, that would bother me. I'm kinda glad I chose a small, not so popular photog now! Although, I LOVE my photos, Duet brides have a certain quality mine lack. I think, anyway.

Im sorry this happened to you.
Luckily for me, I requested mine right away after I got my proofs. I knew there was so many more shots taken that day..they were like the paparazzi and that they could only print the max of 600 (in my case where you got 1000).
Yes, I did get my cd of all my proofs and overall there were 2500 and yes, quite a few I would choose for my album.

Thank you for the info. I dropped off my proofs last week but they havent done my layout yet so.... i JUST emailed them and said that i will be coming by Sat to p/u my CD of proofs so i can look at those before i tell them to go ahead on my layout
Thats CRAP that they did tha to you.
Im realizing now HOW MANY pics they didnt take but ya know what? They might bein the additional 1000+ that i never saw
