FMIL wants us to know take off the last names (like it says my parents and his parents full names request the presence at the marriage of their children Jeffrey and Angela). AND she wants the '&' sign between our names. The wedding is a formal affair....why can't she just leave it alone!!!!

Didn't you see the movie Monster-In-Law????? This is exactly how some FMILs are! They try to see how much they can get away with to prove that they are #1 and always will be #1 in their son's life. Do not give in....b/c if you do it will never end. You will be his wife and his #1 and the sooner FH and FMIL realize, that the better!
I fortunately have a non-invasive FMIL when it comes to the wedding planning. She either doesn't care or understands that this is our wedding and I appreciate that so much! The only thing she asked was instead of a little bouquet of nosegay flowers she wanted a wristlet - which is totally fine with me! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones when it comes to this topic!

is she contributing money to the wedding?? because my FMIL is a real piece of work too and says alot of nasty things but i stand by my philosphy of 'if you ain't paying , than you ain't saying ' and FH knows this so we just let her nasty comments and her countless opinions roll right off our backs
tell her if she wants the invitations to look a certain way then by all means she can pay for them, if not she can feel free to keep her mouth shut.

I would tell FMIL unless she's paying for it to take her opinion and shove it....in an envelope you'll pin it to a wall and get back to it later...like after the wedding.
As for the middle name you should say its a part of your first name, your parents didnt want to use the hyphen and if they.

Honestly I would tell FH that you want things a certain way and you can understand your mom's opinion, but somethings I will put up a fight for and I want my invites a certain way.
Can you blame your parents? Is his mom paying for these things? If not I would NEVER be okay with this.

Do FMIL's have a club where the go on Tuesday nights to sit-down all together and figure out what they are going to do next to try to break us??? I am pretty sure LIW doesn't have a FMIL forum!! (thank goodness!)
Honestly....ef her....you did what she originally wanted, at some point you have to draw the line...bc believe me she will only get worse if you don't :)

Blame it on someone else so she doesn't get mad at you!! Just tell her that the printer is very strict about the way the invites are worded bc she doesn't want her work to seem unprofessional or something.

These are such odd requests! Who fixates on middle names and an '&' symbol? I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I've gotten some strange requests throughout this process but sometimes it's just because they need SOMETHING to complain about. Chin up, it will all work out.
