I am pretty sure I am being a brat but I am going to post this anyway -- UPDATED WITH GIFT DETAILS!

i was chatting with my friends this week and my e-party and my registry came up. And my one friend says, I do not do registries, so i got you something else, and a few of my other friends said the same thing. And I am so appreciative of the gifts and everything they have done for me and will do for me, but is it wrong for me to actually want what is on my registry and not something else?

How bratty am I being scale of 1-10? i am thinking about a 9...

OK so I saw this thread floating around today and I have to tell you, after opening my gifts yesterday I feel like such a horrible person for complaining about it. My friend got us the cutest gift ever!

His and hers matching robes and had them embroidered with each of our monograms... his nPj and mine rPa. It was so thoughtful and really really cute!

I agree with you - i don't understand why, if you have a registry, people can't just get you something off of it

lol... i dont think youre being bratty, if you didnt say anything to your friends... if you said something to them about it... like i made a registry for a reason... then i'd say 9...

I understand... you appreciate they are getting you anything... but you want your house to match! I don't understand people??

I actually agree with you. While I appreciate gifts, the point of a registry is so you know what I want and need.

Actually I think that's pretty obnoxious of your friends, to be honest. Why bother registering then????

Most of my friends for our eparty just gave us money, but one of my girlfriends did buy me a picture frame that I registered for.

I can understand them maybe giving you money and then something else small not on your registry...I had some people do that. For instance one of my BM's and her boyfriend gave us money and a really nice scrapbook. Or others bought something off the registry and something not from it too, like someone bought us the martini glasses we asked for and then some coasters and martini stirrers.

But to blatantly ignore it because they don't feel like it????? That's annoying.

When my cousin got married... me, my mom and my sisters went in together on the gift! we got a crap load of the little things... spatulas, and stuff like that... but we also bought her laundry baskets because she hadn't registered for them, and we put our own touch on it ...i understand that people dont want their gift to be a toaster or whatever... but there are other things to do to also...

its not bratty. u registered for a reason. i mean.. if their gifts are nicer .(translation : more expensive), than what u registered for.. fine...ONLY IF YOU WILL USE THE ITEMS!

i think its foolish of them to go off your registry.

i would only go off the registry if i was buying a gift IN ADDITION to an item the bride registered for

and the fact that they even said that to u shows that deep down inside they know it was fkd up and they relaly should have purchased off your registry.

ppl are sooo asyufisdkfjhsdjkf!!!!

That's sooo weird. I personally am not registering for our e-party but will for my wedding shower. I feel weird registering for getting engaged. But if someone has a registry, don't see why they don't go buy things from there unless they give you money or wanted to give you something else they know you wanted.

This doesn't make sense. When you have a list of things you want, why would they intentionally buy something that wasn't on it? Even if money is a concern for them, I am sure you have things on your registry in their range.

Actually, I completely agree with you. Why would you want to buy someone something that they could already have or may never use b/c it is not going to match their house?

I completely agree with you!!! But I know that some people don't like buying from what's on the registry. It really doesn't make sense because that is what you want!!!

Not bratty at all!!

I HATE when people do this!!
If you really want to get someone something that they would really want, get something that you know for a fact they registered for!!!

Re: I am pretty sure I am being a brat but I am going to post this anyway

A LOT of people have said this to us. 'I don't like registries, I want to get you something different that will be a surprise' and it stinks because we only want or need a few things and it's generous for people to buy you anything but I don't see why they have to think they know better. FH is against me returning/exchanging anything because he says what if they come over the house and ask to see it. I don't care though. For example I got this $50 set of windchimes at my e-party and I happen to HATE windchimes. I found out that they were from a Hallmark store and I now have $50 store credit at Hallmark but I'd rather have that than Windchimes. What I don't understand is people going to BBB and buying other things or couldn't you at least scan it onto the registry so that I could return it if I wanted? UGH like everything is going back just about. You aren't a brat and thanks for the confirmation that I'm not the only one that feels that way.

I agree with you. LIke it was mentioned before you can go off the registry for little add ons but thats it.

i dont think you are. you spent time registering for a reason why even bother having a registry if people are too lazy to go to the store and actually buy something. off the list.

I'm the opposite of your friends. I'm the worst gift giver ever , so, I love registries - it's so easy. I wish there were registries for all occasions!

Dood, I didn't spend 4 hours registering for my health, I did it to take all the worry out of your life so you can just have a list and pick something you'll KNOW I like...

You are not being a brat at all, coz if that were me I woulda said exactly that to them and then maybe it woulda been a lil bratty hehe
