I am really angry!

So when I was doing a web search for a band, I went to a band website (which I will not name, but you can FM me if you want). Not 20 minutes later, I receive a phone call FROM THAT BAND! They said that I had requested some information (not true) and that I had recently visited their webste (true) and that I wanted to go see them live (so not true!) The man had the audacity to say that I had spoken to him. Of course I lied and told him that 'I' wasnt home.

So somehow by visiting the website, he accessed my phone number??!!

I'm just a little bit angry right now. I had no idea that when I logged on to website that they can get my number.

WOW!!! That's SNEAKY!! I didn't know that was possible either!!! Sheesh! Some of these people!!

Can you FM me the name of the band??

I will gladly tell everyone one privately who it was that called, however, I have no idea whether or not this vendor is actually good or bad.

I just want to clarify that I think some of the ways vendors solicit business is sneaky and unprofessional. I really feel violated that my personal info was so readily available.

that's really strange. are you sure they didnt get your info from some bridal show, or the LIW contest? maybe it was just a coincidence that you happened to go on the site on the same day?

just seems unlikely that they could get ur phone number if u didnt fill out any info on their site.

but obviously you know they lied about the other stuff they said to you.

Wow, that's wierd. Did you ask them how they got your phone number? I don't think they can get that information if all you did was visit their website!

Our reception hall shared our information with their house vendors. I found their calls were not a problem-some I met with, some I didn't. Do you think your hall gave out this information?

unfortunately, when i first got engaged, i did go to a bridal expo and filled out the forms, and so yes, i received phone calls of all the vendors that showcased.

this vendor is not a preferred vendor at my hall, so i do not think they gave it to them.

well, whatever the case, coincidence or not, i learned my lesson- will not fill out any form or request any more info. i seriously want to change my number!!

The expo is the reason I got SOOOO many phone calls.
The one most irratating is from Royal Tristate/ also called Royal Prestige. They called me 2 weeks ago saying that I won a trip to Hawaii (or where ever) I couldn't get him off the phone. It was a young guy who as his 'sales pitch' was telling me how he enjoys his job because he gets to talk to woman all day long. It was like he was flirting. GROSS!!!! After about 7 minutes I managed to get him off the phone. I did tell him I'd call him back when I can come in & see the merchandise they wanted to sell me (which would take an hour) in order to 'win' this great prize.
Well believe it or not just this Monday my name came up again & I won $1,000!!!!!! First off the phone rang & I didn't answer it.(I love caller ID) They got my machine & called back 30 seconds later!!! So my FI answered it. He listened to the guys speel & John was asking all these questions. Which they said it was private & they couldn't share with him. He said 'I'm her FI & you can't tell me' And they said no. John told them to F^ck off & hung up.

I wonder what I will win next week???

Our reception hall gave out our phone # to EVERY vendor in the world! We complained to them about it, since they are supposed to ask your permission to do so, but never did. We ended getting money taken off the price at the hall!
I don't think that the band could get your # just from you logging on to their website - someone one else must have given it to them.
